adding guide ropes and pumping water out of that have cave and during the process we know one former thai navy s.e.a.l. died trying t replenish the oxygen tanks this. dangerous operation launched on sunday and came to an end just before 8:00 thi e morningtern standard time. today's rescue operation was said to faster than the previous two days. doctors say the boys appear to be in fairly good shape with a few cases of hypothermia andni pneu but there's still a long, long roado recovery, a road that includes staying in the hospital for at least a week of the right now they are in quarantine as doctors try to figure out if they have contracted anything during the time in the cave andf they ections. i their families are unable to hug them for now because of concern that the boys' immune systems may have become weak. once they are cleared, parents should be allowed i to see them, and we're expecting that to happen in the next couple of days. fifa invited the boy to the world cup final in russia on

at the fight ahead nbc senior political editor markpu murray. icans seem to be fairly pleased. the democrats already announcing their opposition, but how much interference can they really bring to this? >> yeah, wendy, you're exactly right. have the familiar battle lines that have already been dra here. republicans have praised him and democrats for the most part are either in opposition or that ep heavy skepticism that you heard from senator tim kaine. to mou know, i'm looking at the wild cards here andhe on republican side you have republican senator susan collins of may and republican senator lisa murkowski of alaska. those arehe ones to watch to see if they have any issues, particularly on the subject of abortion. onrahe demc side you have the red state democrats like joe manchin from west virginia and heidi heitkamp from north dakota. they will be investigate and a keepin open mind and those are the ones to watch and, of course, all of those ended up voting for neal gorsuch a year

ago and i think at least we have a long w,s to but i think that that is the kind of the way to look at this. we've had the same kind of votes on the gorsuch vote and confirmation year ago. >> senator kaine was just speaking and sayshis judge has a long paper trail and political past. does he really have something that they can glean from that and that they can use against him? >> reporter: sometimes just having the things to be able to buy some time. it's actually true tha he does have a long paper trail. democrats want to look at all od that sometimes you find something that can explode into a story, but to me maybe the biggest wild card of all is the mueller russia probe actually going on. judge cavanaugh ended up writing a 2009 law review article where he aued that sitting president might not necessarily be subject t aivil lawsuit or a criminal investigation, particularly if congress ends up passing a law about it, and you're going to probably see a tremendous amount of scrutiny

investigators say dwight perry attacked his girlfrid at a home on west side drive and then kidnapped the two kids. stayew tuned to ns 4 for more updates on the air and on the nbc washington app. sports lover, friend, truth teller. friends and family ce together to remember longtime journalist john mcnamara during his memorial service and a gunman killedcnamara and four of his colleagues at a rampage at the "capital gazette" last month in annapolis. news 4's chris gordon was there at the service. >> the wife of john mcnamara spoke with some of maryland's top sports personalies just before the memorial service began. >> as a coach you like when guys understand your gamen and j understood our game so he was just a wonderful man that always made meeel great, and he's going to be missed. >> i wasn't friends with a lot ofwriters, but i consider myself a friend to john. >> reporter: at the memorial

quaker lane. it stopped using the potentially hazardous chemical more than ad dego when it learned of the leak. local officials and residents didn't find outntil 2016 that this underground plume of emicals flowed beneath their homes. county supervisor libby garvey spoke to us. >> the thought it was there and started checking and learned it started to migrate a it took them a while to then get permission and fall and go in and start to map it out. >> reporter: here's a looke at map showing the environmental plume. a report was presented to represents dentsast night and the virginia department of environmental quality also involved here. now the biggest threat from the keck call is inhalation and if vapor makes its way into a home. somewhat like raidon gas can
