i'm chris lawrence. >> i'm p lawson muse. some metro bus riders ma be waiting longer today. >> and it's all because a lot of metro bus workers didn't show up for work on time. >> justin is live at friendship heights metro. so what's this all about, justin? >> reporter: it began early this morning with calls from sever bus riders to news4 saying their buses were late and some buses they say they never saw. they were frustrated and confused, many taking taxis and ubers to work. metro did acknowledge those delays and also sent out a tweet saying you should be seeing this tweet going out about 8:30 saying some metrobus service is experiencingelays dueo bus operators reporting late to work as part of a collective action by their union. management is doing everything possible to continue to minimize delaysin about 40es we saw this from atu local 689. th reference many of those workers and says the metro gm

can call this a collective labor action by their union, but the are the workers of wmata saying they do not have confidence in him and his leadership. now back out live, that does reference, of course, the petition put out by loc9 saying they want to remove him from office and they confidence in his leadership. pastight recall over the two years wmata and the union have had some tense talks, negotiating contracts. but nothing was sent to them this morni saying to anticipate these delays. eir there would be a late or delayed commute going on. they want answers arom met to why that happened. metro saying they are doing the best they can. you mht recallhe fourth of july we saw similar delays due to many workers not being in to work at the right time. i did ask the union about the mlb all star week, what this could mean going forward. they say at this time theyo not predict any action.

sentencing is under way for a man convicted in a deadly crash involving a school bus that had been converted into a food truck. tony des faces more than 11 years in prison for the death of andrew kaplan. danes ran a stop a signnd slammed into kaplan's car killing her and seriously injuring her son. danes had done brake work days before the crash. they say he consciously did not maintain the vehicle. right now an adult is in the hospital after this crash in poolsville. police were called to fisher avenue and wooten avenue. this is walking distance from an elementary school. you can see the patient being medevaced to get treatment. we don't know how badly injured the patient is. security could look a lot different on your next trip to the nationalzoo. today officials are reviewing a

you remember relisha was 8 when she disappeareg she was liv at the d.c. general homeless shelter. she was last seen with the janitor there. he later killedf.hims police and community volunteers were out in the district just yesterday passing out flye. now to an update on that tragic crash in fairfax county. the community is grieving the loss of a bright young 17-year-old. he died following the crash on tuesday. he was one of three teenagers inside this jeep whent it l the road hitting a tree. police say speeding was a factor and yesterday his friends gathered at robinson secondary school in faiax to try and console one another. they remembered him as a good lacrosseplayer. even more, an even better person. >> he was always one of my good friends in school. we would always do homework togeower. right n i just can't really comprehend it.
