morning, everythink should w just as normal. but what is going to happen in the coming days? at this point, we simply don't know.o 6,000 metrorkers turned out on a sunday to cast their votes. when the countingas done, they agreed overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. if it happens, bus drivers and train operators would walk. >> the members of 689 have spoken. enough is enough. >> reporter: union leaders say etro general manager paul wiedefeld is violating the union contract in not treating workers spth t. >> sometimes people think because they give you a paycheck, they can treatyou any hey want to treat you. and what we're here to say is, no you cannot. >> reporter: the strike would involves nearly 9,000 worker local 689. that not only involves drivers. it's clerical and maintenance workers as well. union leaders say if the executive board votes to strike, it could shutysown them for thousands of riders. what do you say to the riders who may not you're doing?t

>> what i say to the riders is this. know that we have just as much of the public's welfare in our concern as we do for the workers. >> reporter: workers were energized by the voting, rallying outside union headquarters in forestvilde. many are wng if a strike could affect the all-star game happening at washington nationals baseball stadium on tuesday. leaders wouldn't say. >> we unde would mean. strike we understand what a strike vote means. let's hope that the authority understands that too. >> reporter: i'm told that 94% of the workers who turned out to vote today voted in favor of striking. and of course we reached out to metro a couple of times today to try to get a comment. at this point a spokesperson says there is no comment from metro. erika? >> darcy, let me ask you th s.

two people are still in the hospital. new details now about a stabbing in the district, and it was over a parking spot. ayd.c. police a group attacked two people trying to park near the busy 1th street corridor late last night. take a look. ese are surveillance pictures of the suspects. officers say one of the victims asked ao woman t move out of a parking spot. that apparently sparked an argument that ended in a stabbing. we're told the victims have non-life-threatening injuries. police are looking for the suspects. several people stabbed at a gaithersburg motel ts rning. montgomery county's fire rescue tell us that four people went to e hospital after an assault at the extended stay on professional yive. everybnvolved is being treated at the hospital, and we're told that there is no threat to the public. the water in d.c. is now e safe forverybody to drink. dc water lifting the boil water advisory today for all customs. but the utility recommends that
