in germantown last night. >> this happened around 8:00, just between gunner's lake and gunner's branch park. the conductor of the train told police that he sounded his horn and hit the brakes but was not able to stop in time. the train tracks are hard to reh and they're tryin to find out why those two women were there. no names hav been releas at this point. 6:02 right now. this morning, a.c. mother is planning her 10-year-old daughter's funeral. her life will never be the same now that makiyah is ne >> the 10-year-old died on her front doorstep. shwas the senseless victim of a shooting on monday. we have more on the terrible heartbreak this family is feeling. >> reporter: her mother said this was sudden and senseless and happened in just a matter of seconds. but now for a afetime, she her family will have to deal

with this loss. she wased suppo yesterday by family and friends outside of her home in northeast, where makiyah was shot and killed in a hail of bullets. mily and friends came together to pray. they urged anyone who knome ing to come forth. they urged the four suspected shooters to turn themselves in. wilson says on monda night, she had just given her daughter some money for the ice creamtruck. when she went outside, she never made it past the front door. >> i don't wish this on nomo er. i hear this and see it in stories. but i don't wish this on no mothil. this never be okay with me, ever in life. >> reporter: wilson says h18 ear-old daughter was with makiyah when the shootin happened. and the two of them held makiyah when he took her last breath. her funeral is being planned for

>> chief dean says the overdoses are happening across the district, not just in ahoingle neighb. continuing coverage this morning on a possible metro strike. metro's largest unionay sit's making progress to solve a labor dispute with the transit agency but no deal. ayth sides met wedne for a second day in a row. workers are without a contract since july of 2016. union members have authorized a strike, something neither to see happen. news 4 was first to tell yoj about problems with concrete along the second phase of the silver line.re now, t indications the problem may not be as bad as first feared. according to a lawsuit filed by a whistleblower, the wrong type of sas used in the project. and some concrete was improperly mixed. half of the tests are backn the potentially faulty concrete panels. our news partn wtop says that s

the judge denied her bond saying she was a potential flight risk. it's 6:07. now, to a story you saw first on 4. the school resource officer who fired his weapon inside a school in alexandria is back onegular duty. a grand jury indicted karl savoy on reckless handling of a firearm. he was charged with reckless f discharge ofearm. his gun fired inside george washington middle school in march, causing damage but no injuries. new pushback on a maryland county highway. there is a pushback to transfer the highway from federal control to sta control. governor larry hogan wants to take control of the road. the plan would add expss toll lanes to t parkway in prince ou

george'snty. any transfer of the parkway would require congressional approval. ford has a recall coming out today. this involves fusions and escape. the carmaker says a wire to the transmission can get loose and cause the vehicles to cnge gears. it covers models between 2013 and 2016. if you have one of the cars be sure to use your parking break til a dealer sees your car. today, carmakers will lobby president trump to reduce taris. groups that lobbied for car manufacturers and their counterparts will have to testify on capitol hill. the hearing was organized by the commerce department. it would address the tariffs on cars. u.s. and foreign auto industry
