now we know why threats came in initially as reports of an active shooter. mark segraves is thereo explain. mark? >> reporter: well, as you said, it turned out just to be arb threat, but two calls came into the 911 call centhr morning just after 10:00. both of them from security officialsere at washington hospital center, and boast those calls saying this was an active shooter on the washington hospital center campus inside the cancer center. that's what l to the massive police response and these buildings going on lodown. police stoppeded in full force. the call to 911 came in shortly after 10:00 this morning. the initial disfach calls to firs responders indicated an active shooter as the cancer police shut down roads in and around the washington hospital center campus. while police, some officers ard with long guns, searched the hospital inside and outside. the u.s. park police helicopter was brought in to search the

roof tops. as the search continued, the campus was put nolockdown. first, one building and then three more bldings locked down. tithin minutes, police determined the siton was actually a verbal threat and not an actual active shooter. a spokesperson for news 4 says in an e-mail an aider eg our center made verbal threats. no weapon was seen and no injuries occurred. while today turned out to only a threat and not an active shooter security expert tells news 4 hospitals in particular have reason to be on high alert. >> hospitals are a hoy-risk environment for healthcare employees just for impulsive violence, for threatening behavior for something that might turn into a mass shooting. theyeave concern from all th different angles. >> now a spokesperso from the
