as lauren was saying, turn 't around, don try to venture through it. according to aaa, the law requires windshield wipers to be on, in d.c. and virginia, headlights are required visibility is below 500 lepe a local man is facing a murder charge after police say he ran ove his own sister. this happened yesterday morning near the intersection. police later found marino in maryland. police have not said why he allegedly did this. one woman who was working at a trader joe's in california was

killed in an hours long hostage situation. this happened yesterday in the los angeles neighborhood of silver lake. the man shot his grandmother ane girl, he then led police on a chase through the city. that chase ended up with him crashingnta pole and then running through a packed supermarket. six people were taken to the hospital. their ages range from just 12 years old to 81 years old. >> they werell running so fast and i was going so slow, and so somebody pushed me and i fell on my face. >> police have not publicly identified t woman whose life tragically ended. th> to a tragic story now, one we have been following for almost a week. a 10-year-old girl was killed when she went i out for cream. >> her mom cradled her in her

a particular type of guardrails. they're called x-lite guardrails. >> i'm fighting it so no other family has to be here. >> reporter: this man's 17-year-old daughte hannaas killed after crashing into an x-lite in 2016. >> a guardrail pierced her car and she wasinstantly. >> reporter: for the last year and a half he has met with state and federal officials all over the country, pushing to have the guard ras remaoveremoved. earlier this year, many mother joined his fight. sandra carter's son died on the othethan shore in february. she started her own campaign to

have the x-lites removed from maryland's roads. theta maryland highway administration has now decided to replace all x-tes currently installed in the state. >> there are about 1,000 of them, it's small percentage of the 52-plus thousand that we have out there. >> reporter: rick slater says the work will begin immediately. he tells news4 has x-lites on roads that have speed limits of 55 or faster will be removed. >> they were sympathetic, they were warm, they re kind. and they made it about -- they made it about me, my family, and my son. and the removal of thex-lite just put the icing on top of the cake. >> iid a lot o listening. you know, i wanted to talk to

we took a moment this past week to remember our friend and colleague. vance left behind a legacy with folks from all walks of life. vance, when we think about all that's happened this past year, we can only imagine your commentary evoking the tears and cheers. vance's last interview was with lonnie bunch, as it turned out it was an emmy award winning interview, vance earning his own place in that very smithsonian. it's a place where we can all go one day to see and hear that laugh. a year later, and we still miss the soul of our newsroom,he grateful forime we had with you. and news4 took a moment to remember our friend and colleague as you know.
