countyepartment of public works continuing to monitor the low-lying areas trying to figure out when it's time to close the road. in aition to prince george's county public works monitoring roads like this one, county officials have pple working 24 hours at their automated water pumping stations. >> for the most part we keep people monitoring the stations just in cete sng goes wrong. >> like a loss of power or a generator that dies. that could mean flooding for neighborhoods all along the anacostia river. thatas happening regularly about ten yearsago. >> so this is the old original station. >> reporter: then the county added on to its edmonton pumping station. it now has five pumps, pumping hundreds of thousands of gallons of water. >> so as the waters rise, it triggers the pumps that come along when they are supposed to. someporter: we've had storms when all five pumps have been triggered. dave howard chief inspector for prince george's county department of public works says it's hpening more now than ever. >> i've been with the county over 34 years.

nothing too heavy out there, though there's still a lot of moisture toome and still watching the storm. the storm itself way down here atlanta. needs to move well to the east before it gets out of here. what's in charge of this this is amazing. intense heat out west and rain in the east. a tale of two sides of the country. when i say heat l115 in vegas and phoenix and over 100 degrees in l.a. numerous fires in this area. colorado, parts of utah and colorado, yosemite seeing a big fire for us. that means we're dealing with the cooler weather and rain moving in. by cooler, you know we mentioned flooding, too. by cooler i'm not talking about 50 degrees. i'm talking temperatures today abou five degrees below average from where they would normally be. >> really all about thell rain too. so far this is baltimore's wettest july on record with 13 inches of rain so far this month. as far as d.c., we're top ten wettest julys and we'll climb to

number seven and this is the wettest seven-day rainfall stretch here in washington. a lot of rape over the last few days. as we take a look at your outlook tomorrow, not the best day to head to the pool with ra at times and heavy rain in spots and thursday and friday looking really nice. b sunshine ik on thursday and on friday just a chance for late-day thunderstorms, so t he pool earlier. not only has it been rainy out there, but it's been it's been feeling oppressive, almost tropical, because that's whereure is coming from. through friday we'll continue to feel muggy and then it starts to feel more humid. saturday and sunday has lower humidity levels and then sunday. here's what you need to know. more rain at times through n tomorrht. keep that umbrella handy. remember everybody under the flash flood watch until tomorrow evening. we'll get somewhat of a break thursday, friday, saturday and sunday, and then, doug, next week it's rain, and it's muggy. thankfully it's not as rainy it is this week.
