and damage all over the dmv. >> a lot of roads are still impassable at this hour. others looking like raging rivers. this was the scene on broad branch road in the district tonight. >> incredible amounts of rain again. this after a week to week and a half ofntense rainfall. finally the rain moving out of here. but theng flood war continue right on through part of the morning rush. much more in a just minute. >> thanks, doug. we want to start with some of the video we've been gathering to show you how dangerous things got o there. >> some close calls in a lot of places. d.c. firefighters had to rescue several people every flooded roads around rockek park. this is one of the videos they tweeted out tonight of a mail truck off the road. the driver nowhere in sight. late found okay. two other people had to be rescued nearby on grant road after their car got stuck. >> inar ngton, this is what it looked like at the boston

quarr parking garage. cars forced to drive through deep water to get out. how about takoma park, storm drains overflowing. a manhole cover no match for all the rain. >> but let's start back inn arlingow where news4's stow shomari stone caught up with the owner of this restaurant tonight. that's a lot to clean up there. >> reporter: you know what, it is a mess inside. imagine being a barista in thi restaurant. all of a sudden, the ceiling tiles start falling down to th ground. there are tens of thousands of dollars of damage. you can comever here and people who were in this restaurant at the time tell me that they we snned to see this and tonight, the top chef is saddened. >> it's awful. >> reporter: jo's hart is broken in arlington at this restaurant as crews clean up all this water. >> to see the place i normally

in northwest washington, jackie bensen, news4. >> tomorrow is the court ordered trump e for the administration to reunite all migrant children with their parents after separion at the u.s./mexico border. the department of homeland security says it's working t reunite 2500 children. more than 1100 children are said euto beted so far. the exact number still separated unclearonight but we know 463 migrant parents have already been deported without their children. homeland security secretary kirsten b nielsenefed members of congress today on the progress so far and said snf was ent dhs could meet morrow's deadline. one democrat said he didn't see how that was even possible. it was a grilling.ar secr of state mike pompeo faced tough questions today frod democrats republicans up on the hill.

thing along westla w road here in poolesville. thankfully, no one decided to try going all the way through. there's some hope in the fight against alzheimers disease tonight. a new drug appears to slow the progression of the disease. we get more from nbc news medical correspondent dr. john torres. >> reporter: today a rare success for aheimer's research. a new drug tohelow down progression of the deadly disease which currently has no effective treatments. >> it's hope in terms of that we continue to look for pottial treatments. the data is intriguing. > biogeneported tod at a major alzheimer's conference after 18 months of treatment, paents who received the highest dose saw a 30% reduction in memory andai function decline versus those given a placebo. the drug removes buildupald plaques from the brain thought to be responsible for alzheim s
