a powerfuxpsion outside the u.s. embassy in beijing. kelly joi us with the latest. what can you tell us? >> reporter: hoda and craig, this was a relativelyin explosion but it happened in a veryy diplomatica sensitive area. in addition to the u.s. embassies, there was a lot of smoke whensihis exp occurred in broad daylight. it was heard blocks away and chinese authorities reacted very this video on social media taken seconds after the explosion shows smoke filling the street right outside the u.s. embassy gates. on lookers appear stunned and confused on a crosswalk a possible scorch mark. police roped off a c and collected evidence. a witness said the blast blew out a police car windshield. this morning chinese autrities are n calling it a bomb but a firework device saying only the
