right now on news4, a break in the case. it is a beautiful day out there finally we are seeing some sunshine out there. temperatures are warming. we'll talkbout any mor chances of rain and take a look at the weekend coming up.

> good morning, bear with me, sorry, we're having a little bit of mikelt diffis this morning. thanks for joining us, the rain is gone butt has l behind a whole lot of problems. imagine having your nice sitdown nner interruptedy a falling ceiling. that happened in arlington last night. cell phoneideoaptured the moments that parts of the ceiling were literally falling there. everybody eventually evacuated e restaurant and we're also seeing problems on the roads. megan mcgrath joins us live from northwest d.c. with more on the issues ther men? >> reporter: yeah, we are seeing all kinds of problems. look at the large tree that has fallen across broad branch road here. the problem here is what happened with broad branch. that's the body of wer that alu're seeing right here. looks allm and normal now, butast night a totally different story.e

thater came up, left its banks, went actually over this wall. look at this video that was shot by a man who lives -- you can see just all of the water that flooded out on th street and caused those trees to come down and also caused some erosion on the sides of the roadway as the water gushed downhill. it didn't take long for all of this to happen. it started rning hard at 6:00. by 7:00, that's when the water st started gushing into the street. so that's the situation that haened not just here in northwest but all around the dmv. while you're out and about, keep in mind you might find some trouble spots here. just toive you an idea of how i badt got here last year, you can see the debris right here. this is how high the water came up, all the way from that creek right over there, so it really came up highnd came up fast. when you're out and about, it's possible you may see some trees

we do ha that rain on the way. we'll show you the weekend in detail because we do have some rain for thisweekend. we'll talk about that coming up. now we want to go to a deloping story. a confrontation during a police investigation led to a shooting. takoma park policeell us the suspect fired at the officer first and the officer shot back. it was just over the city line on new hampshire avenue in northeast. the suspect was conscious and breathing when parameds took him to the hospital. the officer was not hurt. che teen at theter of a multi-state amber alert is safe. officials in tennessee ande virginia w searching for 17-year-old grace ihga and her abductor, 52-year-old richard tester. somebody spotted his suv this morning and called police. tester pulled over and was orested in tennesseen a kidnapping warrant. new this morning, the u.s. embassy in beijing is on edge a small an detonated

bomb outside the embassy. the bombs described as a firecracker-like device. officials say other than the suspect, nobody else injured. chinese media also reports that a woman sprayed herself in gasoli outside t same u.s. embassy, but neither the police nor u.s.e officials hav commented on president trump is on his way to iowa for a un able discussion with farmers to discuss his potentially new trade deal. b left jointe andrews just before 10:00 this morning. that's the video you're seeing after that meeting he will head to illinois to meet with steel workers. meanwhile president trump's secretary of state fielded some pretty tough questions from lawmakers on t closed-door meeting with president putin earlier this month. news4's tracie potts has details on the deal and the meeting. >> we made a deal today. >> reporter: no tariffs between the united states and europe, e plope would buy up huge

>> he has a complete and proper rstanding of what happened. i know. i briefed him on it for or a year. >> reporter: he left some lawmakers still wondering if whre thedent says in public -- >> misleading anduntruthful. >> reporter: -- matches what he may have promised russia when the cameras we notrolling. lawmakers were also updated on the president's meeting with kim jong-un, the leader of north korea. secretary pompeays they did agree to full denuclearization. from washington, i'm tracie potts, nbc news. today is the court-orde deadline for all migrant children to be reunited with their parents. thehildren were separated from their parents at the u.s./mexico border after entering the united states illegally. the department of homeland security said me than 2,500 children were separated from their families. more than 1,100 have been reunited so far. the exact number still separated is unclear. 463 migrant parents have already been deported without their
