reunited soon. but on the day of a court-imposed deadline for all children to be reunited with their families, there are still more than 900 kid with no clear patho back t their parents, partly mecauseore than 450 of those parents have already been departed. government lawyers say they have been unable to locate some parents released in the u.s. and that130 of thoseor dd have voluntarily left their children behind. the legal rresentatives for many of those families say they were either confused or thought they were turning custody over to relatives in america. >> it's a different language that they speak, and even after that there's an immigration court for proceeding. there's a criminal proceing they are subjected to because of zero tolerance. >> reporter: the american c liberties union is asking a judge to give families here a little more time to deal with the legal issues they face. >> all we're asking for a few days for them to come together and get pro bono counsel.

>> reporter: as the questions and controversy continue aloe border. news.ay, nbc >> demonstrators marched into the baggage area of dulles airport this afternoon protesting the firing of three women. the women whore immigrants assisted wheelchair psengers to help get them through the rport. the ruinedion is claiming the company that conacts with the airlines to provide this service said that the women were fired for soliciting tips, but the women deny those accusations and say they need the jobs to support the kids. they believe the union status may have played ae role in termination. >> developing this afternoon, the hunt for a potential edator targeting a woman in downtown d.c. they shared this with us. that rs say the man here you'll see wearing a hood attacked a woman outside of the

>> and this couple pact how your children get to class. the propohanges come after the deadly shooting attoneman douglas school in florida earlier this year. shortly afterwards the superintendent requested an internal review. our beiro reporter davidr cul breaks down some of the recommendations, and he's in falls church. why are t considering? >> reporter: wendy and leon, this breaks down into three main categories. you've got training at the top and physical security changes and you have mental health. under training they are talking about enhanced lockdown drills and do the drills when students and teacherare in classes. what would change here if voted and approved is while students are at lunch or in between classes in places that are less predictable and maybe you' g caught offrd they would train lockdown modes in that environment. under the physical security changes, this omone, s folks aren't too happy and others say it's just fine. it has to do with locking classroom doors at all times
