are being blamed after a tractor-trailer crashed by going off the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel in the hamptonea roads the search for the rig and the driver continues. police say a van carryg five other people was involved but all expected to be okay. crews are makingmergency repairs to the bridge. a virginia call for firefighter just two days after becoming engaged.ar hewly escapes a brush with death. cameras on the side of the fire engine there show him setting up warning cones. his crew was on the scene of a crash early yesterday morning on i-95 in stafford county. firefighters say that either he jumped aside as a car shoots right past him and crashes into the front of the engine. wow. >> stumbled back and i was like, what just happened there? then it set in. oh, my gosh, is my crew safe? >> fire engine is what i meant.

'll beutting cameras around the district to take photos of cats and fewild we'll be asking pet owners to submit photos of their cats and ing pet owners. to get more information, we will also be tracking shelter data. at the end of this, we'll be creating a integrated model that will hopefully show the

flow of cats between the iooor ownedhe outdoor to the shelter. we can appropriately understand kind of where cats are coming from in our city. where are they being born. e we getting all of the cats who might benefit from our services and our o tanization. n the ultimate goal is you're trying to make sure that what you're doing ashe humane rescue, for example, you're reaching the numbers you need to reach? >> right. currently, we have a return for cats outside to prevent them from having more babies. we continue to have kittens every year into the shelter in need of homes. that's unsustainable at the rate that we're going. we want to reach enough cats that way. we want to make sure that pet ownersir are keeping t cats indoors. re we reaching all the pet owners? they come to us on medical and behavior. then the shelter data. where are theats coming from? truly analyzing the intercept of the three different segments of cat population. >> would you say we have a stray cat problem in d.c.

the smoke coulde seen for miles. this morning in prince george's county, man 80 people waking up away from home. this huge fire started at an apartment complex in greenbelt friday and it burned for hours. this morning, firefighters working to figure out whatte st it. >> search crews back on the water this morning after a semi fell off the csapeake bay tunnel bridge last night. police sayhe t semi wasn't involved in a crash. five people were not hurt. there wave severe weatherr the bridge at the time and that might have been a faor. >> today marks one month since five people were murdered at the capital gette in annapolis. at noon, a ten-hour concert of speake and live music kicks off to help the capital gazette fund. the band good charlotte, they're performing tonight.

85 people are waking up withouts a home t morning after a fire ripped through a greenbelt apartment complex. >> this happened yesterday afternoon. the franklin square apartments. breezewood terrace. chopper 4 was there when the flames were still shooting out of the building. smoke could be seen rising over the beltway. the roof is missing for much of the structure. many of the units appear to be gutted. this is the second timegh firers were at that complex. just the day before, we're told that residents were about gas smell. >> when it came, they s it' not gasoline but it's not harmful. then this hpened. >> no one got hurt in the fire but a lot of residents lost everything they own. the red cross is helping this mornin w those folks have nowhere else to go. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. d.c. police released the name of a man killed friday evening in columbia ights. he's 68-year-old anthony anderson. he was stabbed to death in the ddle of 14th street.

police were able to make a quick arrest. jackie bensen has more. >> the crime scene right in the le of the crosswalk at 14th street and perry place northwest. what appeared to be a screwdriver could be seen on the ground near some of the victim's belongings. it happened in broad daylight during evening rush hour as dozens of people were walking or standing nearby. >> homicide detectives were called to the scene and spoke to a number of witness some or all of what happened. because 14th street is a major metrobus route. buses were stacked up for more than a blocker until drivers given instruction toss reroute because of the street closure. the man in custodys identified as 54-year-old alton rivers of northwest 'sshington. charged with second degree murder. in northwest, jackie bensen, news 4. the stage is set once again. just a few hours, beyonce and

rolling in for a planned memorial to honor a leesburg icon. jeweler stanley call kins died. he was 92 years old. his life included strong community involvement. fos want his legacy to live on. friends and family are hoping to create a statue to honor him. it belongs on king street alongside t jewelry store he operated for more than 60 years. >> stanley caulkins represents the humility, honor anda integrity o generation of war heroes that served selflessly their community above their o needs almost. stanley never put h business above the community endeavors. he was equally as involved in the rotary, the building hospital, the creation of the leesburg airport ani r his own business. er i interviewed stanley three years ago a fire destroyed his business. even under that stress of what had just happened, he wasn't worried about himself or the
