scene, which is not far from the mgm casino in oxon hill. >> reporter: wendy, police have been here on the scene roughly five hours ad we're t they'll likely continue to be here for some time as there are now tga invesons they're working. a murder investigation as well as an investigation of a police-involved sho getting you right to some video of the gun police say the suspect had and fired at them. i can tell you the liquor store at the corner of oxon hill road and livingston road is the center of this investigation. we're told an officer who was in the area on an unrelated issue heard shots, saw the commotion, got out his vehicle to see what was goingn. o that's when we're told that suspect allegedly ran toward the officer, firing hiseapon, ignoring cmands to stop. that's when the officer, we're told, had no other choice but to fire his weapon, shooting and killing the suspect. he then went insidend found

the murder victim inside the liquor store. they're still trying to find out exactly what led up to all of this. >> at this point, we know the suspect fired several times and we have several shell casings from that weapon. we also recovered that weapon on the body of our suspect. we are not clear at this point what precipitated the confrontation between our murder victim and our suspect, but we have morehan two dozen itnesses to this, and in addition, we have video from some of the businesses in proximity to this event. >> reporter: all right. tang a live look here again at the corner of oxon hill road and livingston road. we're told the officer is not being identified right now but the suspect in this case is known to police. we're told this is an ongoing investigation. the officer involved is on adnistrative leave, which is

>> certainly the president's been clear he thinks paul manafort's beenated unfairly. >> reporter: while distancing himself, the president also suggested manafort's being treated worse than mobster alpo . manafort has pleaded not guilty to all 18 charges against him. charges that could land him in prison for decades if he doest get a presidential pardon. wendy? >> thank you, susan. also today, senate republicans killed a measure that would add new funds to secure fute elections. that bill would have added $250 million for states to upgrade their voting systems to protect against hacking and cyber attacks. a similar effort also failed in the house and theeepublicans arguing that congress has already approved $380 million foa state grant program. police now say they believe the m of a cardiologist who d president george h.w. bush may have been a case of revenge. he was shot and killed about a week and a half ago as he rode his bikeo work in houston.

criticizing who is and whoets notng that money. prince george's county bureau chief tracy wilkith is following money tonight. >> so they're giving money based on don't even know what. >> reporter: sandra pruitt is focused on where prince george's county grant money is. goi she's executive director of people for change coalition, a nonprofit that helps tuild and grow community groups. sandra has been paying close attention to the community partnership grants which comes directly from the county executive's office. >> the community partnership grants are very competive. we allocate about $1.6 million a year but we get over $10 mlion of requests. >> when you look at who gets the money, it seems to be the same people over and over again. then when you look at some of their serves and what they're doing, we're not getting that retun our investment. >> reporter: we checked state records and found that 2 of the 120 nonprofits that received the grant a month ago are not good standing with the state tax department now. pruitt is also concerned about

county. until tomorrow at 6:00 p.m., that could be extended. here is the latest on t stormm 4 radar. you can see areas of heavy rainf a line heavy rain and thunderstorms now pretty much parallel to i-81. this is moving from south to north. a lot of this activity, most of this acvity, i should say, stays west of this line here.as if you're of this line to the d.c. metro area dn through southern maryland, stafford, king george counties. i really think you stay dry tonight. you can see parts of frederick, loudoun and fauquier counties could deal with flooding issues. remember, you never drive through a flooded road, especially at night when it's dark and you don't know howeep that water is. the evening hours, storms really stay around and wt of i-81. most of us are dry tonight. everybody is mild and humid with a temperature of 80egrees at 11:00 p.m. as we look to tomorrow and friday,caered showers and thunderstorms for the afternoon and especially the evenings.

still have a lot of work with all of these trees. there are tires, metal objec and a lot of these plastic containers. it's every beach lover's nightmare, sandy point state park is clos for swimming. crews are working to reclaim the oreline and clean up. they're using chainsaws and heavy equipment. >> they can enjoy the beach, the jetties, our picnic areas, but there is too much debris in the water for them to safely be in the water swimming or wading. >> reporter: this family from ohio is visiting friends from silver spring. together they broht eight kids to the beach who arte disappointed that they can't swim in the bay so they played in a pool of water left on the beach from the recent rains. >> when we got here they stopped us at the front a let us know we couldn't get in the water. >> reporter: the bay is open for fishing so ts family found a

4 radar. i've been tracking this all afrnoon along with lauren. heavy rain along and west of i-81. for the most part staying in similar areas leading to some flooding concerns in parts of shenandoah and rockingham counties. this will have difficulty moving farther off to the east but could move as far as frederick, loudoun and northrn fauqu county. a flash flood watch for the countiesen here in solid g this goes until 6:00 p.m. tomorrow evening. it does have the potential to be expanded farther to the east and for a longer amount of time based on how tomorrow's thunderstorms look to set up. you'll see here on future weather, i think they're going to be much more widespread tomorrow afternoon versus tonight, jus being confined mainly and around and west of i-81. 9:00 tonight, still activity up around the panhandle and up into frederick and washington counties. a dry start tomorrow morning. 8:00 a.m., isolated showers, but really a mix of clouds and sun out there for the midday.
