violent winds. here in queens, the think a tornado went through this area, and the national weather service will beut later tod to see if indeed that is the case. meanwhile, in lynchburg, virginia, all eyes are on that dam that could burst. overnight inlynchburg, virginia, officials ordering evacuations, fring the college lake dam could fail after days of torrential arains. thea dealing with rising waters, getting slammed with another 6 inches of rain in just a few hours. first responderssing inflatable boats to rescue families from flooded homes. if the dam is compromised, water levels could top 17 feetn just minutes. about 140 mil north in fairfax county, virginia, a group of firemen carrying motorist to safety from a car swept awayy rapidly moving floodwaters. in college point, queens, cleanup is underay this morning after a possible tornado touched down, ripping trees from their iroots. e been in this town my

a lot of people are traveling this weekend. al, what can you tel us? >> well, we'll be looking at a repeat of what we've been seeing. is is lynchburg, and you can see the heavy rain coming through. well, bad news. we're going to be looking at even more heavy rain today. could be another 1 to 2, maybe 3 inches of rain in this area. in fact, there is now a flash flood warningn effect for that area right now. 36 millioneople are under some sort of flash flood watch or flood warning from a georgia the way on up into new england. ng on. what's g this system is a slow mover. there's not much going on as far asom getting relief, so there's the risk for flooding in the mid-atlantic states and the northeast today. all thisoisture funneling up today into tonight, and then stor redevelop again tomorrow for more isolated, heavy thunderstorms during the afternoon. flooding a possibility. we're looking at the amounts along the southeastern atlantic coast and then also up

circles, but thes morning in hot water after university trustees appointed an indepeent board to find out whether, one, he knew about the abuse allegations facinis assistant coach, zach smith, and two, whether he did anythingit about >> i do believe he knew, and instead, he chose to help the abuser. >> reporter: courtney smith says for years her ex-husband, ohio state assistant football coach zach smith, physically abused her and believesss his legendary head coach urban meyer, knew about it and did nothing. r put on paid leave after text messages and photos surfaced, raising tth possibilit he knew about the domestic violence accusations three years ago and didn't report them. smith says she filed multiple police reports, including one in 2009 that reads in part, "the defendant grabbed the victim by her t-shirt, picked her up and threw her into the bedroom wallc the vm is pregnant with the defendant's child." but smith didn't press charges against her then husband.
