instead, they plan to have a i rally tomorro washington, d.c. at a park across from the white house. still the city charlottesville and the state of virginia remain under a state of emergency. ltiple streets are closed off to traffic and there's a large olice presence in town this weekend and also at the nearby university of maryland, that's where the altight tiki torch march took place last year the night before the protest.ts this year parf the campus are blocked off. the city's new mayor and police chief s they won't tolerate the happened last year. you may recall ea32r-old heather higheyer died. city officia s say thete of emergency in place here is needed to make sure resources e available to make sure people stay safe. as for the rober e. lee statue in that park which was the focal point of all of this last ityea s still in that park. there is a state law preventing the removal o confederate

meantiour time is 8:33. final preparations under way for tomorrow's white supremacist rally. it's going to be happening right outside >> d.c. officials say they're trying to avoid the deadly violence that broke outn charlottesville last year. organizers of unite the right 2 have a permit to rally in lafayette square across from the white house. at least five groups of counter proteste plan to rally and march to lafayette square. authorities are ramping up security to keep both sides t. apar but one top d.c. official won't be in town. mayor muriel bowser say she's going along with a long-timed trip to el salvador. >> i'll make a designation that the city administrator makes any decisions i'm not able to make. i should say that i will -- if d think i n to be here, i'll be here. >> and president trump won't be in town either. he's staying at the trump national golf course in new jersey while renovations are being made to the white house.

out. >> we'veearned the names of the police officer who shot and killed a suspected drug dealer in lansdowne. corporal jeffrey benson is part of a special prince george's county police unit. that unit was looking for gregory campfield, junior. neighbors say he was dealing drugs and trying to rob people. officers saye reached for gun in his waistband and that's when corporal benson shied him. campfield died i the spital. detectives say they found a gun, drugsnd cash on scene. there is a new twist surrounding the death of a university of maryland football player. several members o the school's athletic deptment are now on administrative leave. 19-year-old jordan mcnair was am offensive l for the terps. he was sent to the hospital after a practice in may and he died in ne. the school hired a sports medicine consulting firm ton conduct investigation.
