tonight, and news 4 has every angle covered. we have a teamorf rrs spread out across the district monitoring the different ovotests. ourage tonight begins with mark live in lafayette square. mark? >> reporter: yeah, good afternoon. we're right outside the white house actually at 17th and pennsylvania. you can see there are still d.c. police officers standing guarde on pennsylvania avenue outside the white house. as you said, this is all but er. sooner than it was expected. this was supposed to go on until about 7:30 this evening. as you said, when they got here, about two dozen white supremacist yprotesters, t began their speeches in a sequestered stage far away from the thousands counterprotesters who wereer h tonight. but the real tension came when they marched here from the foggy bottom metro, escorted by dozens of police officers on motorcycles, bicycles, and on foot, bringing them through a gauntlet of counterprotesters who hurled insults at them, yelled at them at times threw botts at them. that did not dissuade about two

dozen of these white supremacists led by jason keler when they got here to the white house. there were some dust-ups between some trump supporters and some counterprotesters in the crowd where they started yelling at one another. but again, i just got off the phone with a skesperson who's been monitoring thisntire situation today. they tell me thereave been no arrests today related to these protests and no serious injuries. is exactly what police in the district were hoping for, a peac demonstration that went off. there was a lot of emotion here today, but agai no arrests, no violence, and we can tell you that at the end of this, kessler and his group of followers were taken back to anothereetro whhey have now left the city. that's the very latest reporting live outside thehite house. mark segraves, news 4. >> mark, thank you. stay safeuthere. breaking now, the white supremacists are returning to

the vienna metro. they left d.c. even before the rally was scheduled to begin. earlier, northern virginia bureau chief was there when their leader explaid what he said this rally was about. >> reporter: police provide a protective escort for the unite the right contingent as they arrived at the vienna metro, their flags flying oead as their small group came down the sidewalk and headed into the station. counterprotestersoutnumbered e unite the right ralliers, shouting at them as they passed by. the organizer of the secondig unite the r rally, jason kessler, telling reporters his purpose is to stand up forree speech rights. >> people are attacking my supporters. they have their cars vandalized. they're threatened i social media kicking off people for hatech spee >> reporter: but counterprotesters see kessler's rally in a muc different wa as promoting hate. >> you're not welcome here. like, i don't want any of you --

counterdemonstrators s hanging around here even though it's raining. i want to show you some video that we shot before the rall took place right over on 15th street, not far from the white house. people took t the streets for a demonstration. black lives matter and other organizations came together to protest in the street, saying that hate is not welcome here in the streets of washington. many were very passionate, saying not here in o city, we do not welcomeen hate. they came over here to lafayette square where they came up to the fence, they could look over and see the unite the right people here for that rally. many were justed . they were saying, is that all? t ishat all the people who are to show up? some of them were mocking the people here for the rally, telling them sha, telling them show their faces. so manyere were feeling very good in the fact that so many counterdemonstrators showedp. we spoke to one man from northern virginia who described himself as a veteran. >> to send a message this sort

supremacist r ends early without any major disturbances reported. ists started act to emerge in the district, the crowd quickly became agitated. >> reporter: a lull in the action here at the foggy bottom metro station, but a very different scene from just a few hours a when the unite the right rally staed here. they emerged fromhe foggy bottom metro station to a gauntlet of cheers and taunts. they were immediately by police officers to make the roughly one-mile trip to lafayette park. was more of a hurried stroll. all the tay alonhey were outnumbered by the officers guarding them, the bystanders heckling them, and even the press covering the event. the trip was pretty much made without incident, though tempers did flare. so ing those protesters probably didn't get a chance to

early afternoon hours. then somete ay showers and thunderstorms will impact the area. it's finally completely dry out there on wednesday and thursday, but it is looking hot with higm atures around 90 degrees. here's the latest on storm team 4 rad s. i'rt you off with some of the heaviest rain continuing to fall around area, mechanicsville, and st. george island. you can see oranges and reds there. elsewhere across the area, generally light to moderate showers moving through. these are pushing out toward the east. indianapol annapolis seeing some ofhi rain. baltimore seeing some showers. looking back to the we, some isolated showers and thunderstorms pushing through western maryland and west virginia. once this main batch of rain is out of here, i can't rule out a few mor scatteredhowers and maybe a rumble of thunder until about midnight. after midnight, looking mainly dry with patchy fog developing overnight. when we have that very heavy rainll earlier today and severe thunderstorms that were mainly south of washington, we

did see a l of storm reports coming in. take a look here. these are all the reports i queried. we're looking at everything from wind damage to hail to flooding issues. we also had some damage reports up around the fredrick area. here in the metro, we had some moderate rain, a few rumbles of thunder, but thankfully no severe weather impacting the d.c. metro area this afternoon. here's tes l on that flash flood watch. in effect until 11:00 p.m. all the area in solidgreen. i think the national weather service might cancel this a little earlier becau i'm no longer tracking any widespread heavy rain moving into the region. takeon look. we'llnue to track some showers out there until about midnight. after midnight, we're looking at mainly dry conditions. tomorrow at 6:00 a.m., there's a chance for showers. notice around noon some widel scattered showers. otherwise, a few peeks of sunshine. we head into the afternoon and evening hours tracking showers and thunderstorms. once again tomoow, i can't rule out some heavy rain because of the humidity, among other factors. we start off the day at 72.
