the toddler fell from one of thr uploors of this very tall building, from a spot justelwo stories where a toddler fell to his death last may. >> it was tragic. i don't know what else tbore is to say it. >> reporter: residents of skyline towers on seminary road say they cannot believe it happened again. >> around 4:00 today, officers wered dispatc to the 5600 block of seminary road for a child that had fallen from the 25 th --4th floor of th balcony. >> reporter: a child described as a toddler. the police wouldn't say if it was a little boy or girl. fell from an upper floor, the 24th about 4:00 p.m. one es are department who did not want us to show his face said, after a 3-year-old fell to his death from a wedow on 26th floor of this building just last may, he decided to upgrade the saf of his family's apartment, lining the balcony rails with chicken wire.

at the house. all i could do was get in the bed and rest. >> elliott stevens is talking about the kidney dialysis that kept him alive while he waited edr a kidney transplant. he's a mar father of two, active in his church for many yearca a loner delivering packages for fedex. o failis kidneys started in his 50s, everything changed. with that dialysis schedule, he couldn't work. he couldn' travel. >> it just drained my body. i couldn't do things with my g daughters a out with my wife to dinner and things like that. but then about 15 months after he went on the transplant list, he got the late night phone call he'd been hoping for. >> and it was georgetown hospital asking me -- that theyd said they f match for me as far as a kidney. would i be interested in it. and me and mywife, we embraced and we were thankful. >> but there was a catch, and a big one. the donor kidney was infected

may -- their only chance for transplant may be to get ahe patitis c kidney. >> mr. stevs was a candidate only because head already hepatitis c from a childhood blood transfusion, he says. now more than a year after his transplant, he has a new kidney and he's free from hep c. there are two thingt make this a life line for people waiting for kidney transplants.n their powerful new drugs available that can cure oepatitis c, two, this new study followed people olunteered to take the hepatitis c infected kidney. after treatment, people in the study were free of the virus. >> which was remarkable. >> dr. gilbert and the team at georgetown are hopeful about the chance to help more people who need kidney transplants. before they can do that, more research is needeth to confirm results of this small study. elliott stevens has all the proof he needs and he wants to spread the word that this option works.
