university of maryland is deciding whether to take action after the death of a football dan mcnair. he passed away after he collapsed during a practice earlier this year. his family says they want the head coach to be fired. our bureau chief tracee wilkins joins us in. college pa >> reporter: the university system of maryland oversees all of the universities in the state of maryland. the board of regents met today, they said they wanted more details on what happened with the death. mcnair's family wan the same thing. >> the university killed my nephew. they're trained -- theymy kille nephew. >> reporter: powerful words from a heartbroken uncle after the death of his 19-year-old nephew, university of maryland football player jordan mcnair.d mcnair suffe heatstroke during an offseason summer practice. two weeks later, he died. according to an espn report, a culture of toxic and abusi h

football program profoundly alarming. this was a closed door meeting, and're awaitin wait waiting spet least as much as they can release to the public felt hopefully that will be released soon. rerting live, back to you in the studio. >> thank you. it's the final weekend of summer break for d.c. public school students. as many as 900 of theirll teachs e unlicensed when they return to the classroom monday. scott mcfarland has an update. >> rorter: in june a news4 i-team investigation revealed about 1,000 d.c. public school teachers were unlicensed which d.c. education officials acowledge was a violation of d.c.ul regations which require teachers to be certified. parents and community leaders say it's a risk. un censed teachers are more unlikely to have certification or training and are less likely to be fired for misconduct. about 100 teachers gained licenses over the summer. the number of unlicensed drops

former church members claim there was a culture of secrecy d cover-ups at the calvary temple. this aft deputies arrested a man once connected to the church. bureau reporter david culver explains why there are calls for more arrests. >> reporter: tonight a man who once served as a deacon a calvary temple church in sterling is behind bars. loudoun countysheriff's deputies arrested kevin o'connor thursday. they charged him in a sex abuse case dating back to 2003. >> it's about time. it's about time. >> reporter: for nearly 30 years, ellen cusarttended lvary temple. she left or got out, as former measures s members say, in 20re. >> the culs such that if you do leave you will be cut off from your family. >> reporter: deputies say o'connorbused a girl beginning when she was just 13. the alleged abuse is not believed to have happened at calvary temple. ellen says you cannot separate the two. >> and the fact that so kany peopw what had happened

it's a friday.ar and w in weather alert mode. >> we're getting familiar with the drill, doug. >> yeah. we are. we said yesterdayet storms would yesterday that the storms would come through at the exact time that most of the storms came through, the evening rush. starting to see rain move into the d.c. metro area. the heaviest storms to the south around culpeper county. thatun arer a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:00 tonight. the warning really, the storms areeally starting to peter out here. not a ton of lightning associated with those. you see a couple of bolts of lightning around the fairfax area. you might hear lightning. this is just a moderate raiw. heaviest rain is down to the south. looking at this storm in through culpeper thcountyugh portions of rappahannock, as well the strongest is new york culpeperoving through warrenton. that will be moving through in the next 15 minutes or so.

t this mov manassas in the next half hour, eventually inside the d.c. metro area, in the beltway around 7:00 in time for the nationals game. at leesburg, moderate rain in this area, as well. no more lightning here. we may see a little bit of rumble of thunder, but for the most part, this is just some moderate rainfall beginning to fall. we did see some bigger stos up to the north. we saw some of those come through the area. thet of tree damage back to west. winchester, around thesb martg area, frederick county, maryland and virginia. stormsto uhe north, and they are providing severe thunderstorm warnings into the region. for us, we'll havean another tomorrow of some scattered storms. 8:00 tomorrow morning, more clouds. we expect more clouds tomorrow. we're going cooler than today. highs in the 90s. the heat index was a10 earlier this afternoon. incredible. not quite as hot tomorrow. cloud cover around 1:00, here comes the scattered storms

for more than aad dec the families of three d.c. women wondered what happened. >> this week their worst fears confirmed. found them in southeast washington. >> all three victims were in their 40l hree disappeared 12 years ago. jackien at a vigil honoring the three lives. >> reporter: well, they are getting ready to get this vigil started, waiting for people to arrive. the purpose of this, what they want to do is they want to say tir names. verdell jefferson lived on wayne place, right here. jewel king and dorothy butts lived nearby. all three women were in their 40 all three were reported missing in t same year, 2006.
