we are tracke threat of more rain and storms tonight. severase roads closed bec of high water. amelia and sheila will have a look at the conditions in your neighborhood. that's coming up in just a few mirstes. a new twist as the man charged in the murder of a family and their housekeeper in a d.c. mansion prepares to go on trial next month. news 4 has obtained court papers to show how lawyers for there suspect dar windt are trying to discredit the d.c. police. they are focused on officers who may be called as witnesses. the defense is trying to gather documents which s ow some those officers were disciplined for misconduct. prosecutors want a protect le order toit the details from any internal investigations to protect the privacy of police witnesses. a hearing on that is going thibe held friday. windt's trial for the savopoulos murders is set to begn the 5th of september. now to a grim milestone. the today marks one year since

emerge as safe places fores famione trust their children. dr. lowe's leadership is critical to this happening. the father didn't mention theh coac d.j. durkin, who remains on administrative leave. >> pap smears could become a thing of th past forost women. there are new guidelines on screening for cervical cancer, and they wer released today. for the first time the u.s. preventive servicesce task is recommending a method f some women that does not include a pap smear. instead, women betweens the a of 30 and w65 are not at a high risk for cervical cancer can opt to be screened with the hpv test every five years. women younger than 30 still need a pap smear every three years. the recommendations are bed on evidence that shows almost all ases of cervical cancer are caused by the human papilloma virus, and the hpv test is the best way to detect that virus that can lead to that ncer.
