the attorney. on thursday "the washington post" said anderson used athletic funding to pay for the defense. e athletic director is on administrave leave around having a toxic culture. maryland's board of regents selected williams and four other commission. of the it's frederick azar. bonnie bernstein bob erlick. the commission is looking into the program following the death of jordan mcnair in june. he died two weeks after a suspected heatstroke. the board says the commission will have time and the independence to look into this program fully. aeparate investigation dealing with mcnair's death could wrap

up next month. right now a t search f man responsible for shooting someone. it happened inside an apartment building on lockwood drive in the white oak area. jackie bensen tells us investigators believe this is not a random crime. investigators from the montgomery county police e department coueen going in and out of the ground floor apartment for hours. officers were calledapo the tment in the white oak area just after 5:30 p.m. they found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body. their investigation appeared to be confined to the interior. this shows an area at the back of thedpartment surroun by yellow tape. police k-9s were brought in to trackhe suspect. it's not clear if they were able

>> reporter: state records show hundreds of people have been prosecuted forpeeding in school zones in montgomery county since 2016. d inrince george's county, and nearly 100 in frederick. but in hundreds of other cases we found more than 100pe strians hit walking to or from school in maryland since 2015. in virginia where they measure school zone crashes we found 600 in fairfax county and 200 each in loudoun and prince william. some the fault of the drivers e and some of pedestrians. nearly a dozen of the crashes ended in someone dying. >> i took it really hard. it just happened. a car hit gwen ward's daughter. >> she was deceased by the time i g there. they said you can't touch her. i said this is my child. i'm going to touch her and give her my last good-bye kiss.
