safety around school, and students going to school is anecdotal. we asked the local police agenes to give us their numbers, how many speeding, distracted driving, safe driving around scols. the numbers are quitetrikstriki traffic accidents but the hundreds in loudoun and prince george'scounty. we're talking about infractions in school zones, very sensitive areas. this is something thatverybody plays a role in migating, but it's not just the people passing through the school zones, it's the parents of the kids doing the dropoffs who are speeding

aw or using the phone as they drive away leaving their children on the side of the stre. >> they need to use their cell phone because their boss is calling or they need to return an email. >> when you're at the drop off ti point and time, that ends at ar n time. and we have done stories in the past about school busses and the stop sign arm that goes out and how many cars pass that stop sign, thousands.ll the ti so as we get into school mode, it's time for payple to closer attention. >> do you see any difference between fairfax county, prince george's, loudoun? >> d.c is different in that it didn't have traditional schoo zones. so it's going to be apples and

oranges in the other counties. but this isn't any different in virginre. but there driving challenges everywhere. so sadly this is a problem for everybody. but police are doing extra patrols, one of the things they are checking for, parents who have improperly buckled their children into the seat belts or the car seat. those cases kept popping and it was more than expected. >> when is it okay for kids to bstart walking oring to school on their own. and we talked to somebody with fairfax county police that said it's a good idea for mom or dad to map that rte aheadf time. so the kids know exactly how they're going and the safest way to get there, if there are any problem areas, m or dad is

change to a prettyig road that could affect a lot of people coming into the area. >> just north of old town alandria, thepeed limit dropped from 25 miles an hour to 20 miles an hour. the d.c. plan aims to eliminate all traffic-related fatalities and injurieser by ain year, so they're working towards a goal of cutting down these crashes and these types of things that's why they did it, but they also looked at high eed corridors where they could reduce their speed limit. but if you drive that area, it'e by thtomac yard shopping center, you remember they were considering putting a football stadium there. but if you drive down that corridor, there's condos all in

that development, and so people have to slow down because you have peopless cg the street, and even dropping the speed limit 10 miles an ho in that stretch they say will only add a minute to drivers' time in that corridor. and all the studies say if you get hit b a car going 30 miles an hour, it's not going to look good. but if you are hit by someone going 25 miles an hour, your cha chances are a lot better. you ow, that stretch of route 1, people used to lookt like a boulevard, and people go 40 miles an hour. but things are changing around here and it should, because it's not the same region we had 10

sort of the local figures that have been cnvolved in thise and where it stands now. >> that gets lost, because this such a national, if not international story that crosses all across the country, but this is happening at the federal urthouse in alexandria, and in eral eeks, it hits the f courthouse in d.c. but in the beginning, it was local prosecutors, it was virginia based prosecutors, a manho led the prosecution team had local roots, believed to be a rising sta and has had some cases of note, he had a case that led to advisory leader mark standoff. and we got to hear an awful lot about the judges in t case who has been in that courthouse some time. these cases have an impact that

real violence, nothing big happens, you would consider that a sucss, but i'm not so sure metro is considering what happened at the white nationalist rally a success, because they took a lot of blow back from that how is the fallout now? >> there are no clear answers that are being given about what specific happened on that day. the whole lead up to all of this etwas, is going to set aside a specific rail car or train these white nationalists that are coming for this rally. w metrot back and forth the whole week, there's no way that's going to happen, you heard that from metro chair steve evans, and then that day, it looked an awful lot like you saw these white nationalists arding this rail car, the national union pushed back and
