todd. we're taking a t look at senator's legacy this morning. and here, particularly in washington, it was extensive. >> when somebody's 81 years old d is fighting brain cancer and you think on one handhis is an expected moment and expected death. but yet the timing is something hard to deal with for, i think, one big reason, berause s a sense that we're in a horrible political moment right now, our institutions are under attack, there's so much partisanship, and it's like wait a minute, john mccain is the one man who might be able to fix this, build a bridge. we knew he might not comeck, now we know he's not coming back and you look at the other 99 senators who's going to say i'm going to put the democracy ahead of my own mission, i'm going to put democracy ahead of my own party.
10:19 am
that's what it is because you put the democracy ahead of your own political interests. that seems to be in s shortply right now and i think that's why there is such an outpouring -- there would have been an outpouring for john mccain an ay, but it's the -- >> the way he was seen abroad, even outside the u.s., some would argue that he had a better reputaeton andr connections that even some of our secretaries of state. >> he had this -- there's been some incredible stories that you hear. i was reading markl ter, hiter, of the writers of his book and his long time speechwriter ther.d in myanmar to
10:20 am
here's somebody that understood the suffering that they were in and at the same time still had some optimism. and sone i think of the reasons why he was seen as sort of a beacon of the american ideal that there's -- of human righ b isause of that experience he felt and in that way, boy, nobody i think spoke out on human rights more so on the republican sidef the aisle than john mccain. and i think it's those personal have ences that seem to made why internationally there's this so manys because he beacon of freedom. he enwas. >>or mccain the news of the day, but you're going to talk abouthat happened this week with the president. >> it's been a rough week for him. it but what'sinteresting, w have a new nbc wall street journal poll that's out,di testg any of this have an impact on his approval ratings.
10:21 am
basically hisrt sups are more loyal than his associates, they have stuck by m, even as he's watching his associates drop like flies.ng it's a fascinaichotomy that we're in right now, i think the president haser nelt more isolated yet he's cocooned by his supporters. you can see "meetrihe press" t after news4 "today" about 10 minutes from wnow. have a beautiful day out there right now, blue sies across the region, this is ovin overlo -- we have got 70s across the board right now. but again, those are going to go ahead and come

right on up. so if you're walking out the door thismo ing, maybe church services, maybe to go get some coffee, it's going to be fine, you'lloy e it. later on this afternoon, it's going to be pretty hot, definitely to the system, because we're notto usehis heat, we have had several ds that were below normal. another thing, pollen report, ve you been sneezing, have your eyes been a little bit on the itchy side? ragweed pollen is very, very high, and it's going to be like that into next week aswe . we have had ragweed on the rise. so that's probably why you'rein sufffrom that and i know a lot of people do suffer from ragweed. we're dry right here a few showers down in the shenandoah valley, but for the most part, we're going to be dry over the neple of hours. we're going to see a few isolated showers along 91, butm
10:23 am
ly west of d.c. you can see a few showers trying to pop-up, a few thunderstorms, and for theost part we're dry on monday, but then another chance of isolated chance for tomorrow afternoon, isolated showers and storms, nothing too heavy. speaking of all the kids are pretty much headed back, it is going to be hot, specially for recess and pick up, that heat index is going to be close to 100 degrees. in fact it's goi to be over 100 tuesday and wednesday. yellow is your air temperature, and the oranges are that heat index, so again, hot, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, just some sty showers for the next 36 hours, and then thursday we'll see our next best chance for storms and that o will continue friday
