all too familiar scene in america. a mass shooting. it happened today in jacksonville, florida. good evening. i'm erica gonzalez. multiple pedestri multiple people are dead and wounded. a gunman opening fire in a video game tournament. it is a festival marketplace in downtownjacksonville. it happened inside a restaurant. one of those victims shot, a man from d.c. he said he was shot in the thumb. morerom him in just a moment. first, we break down how it all starte >> reporter: competitors flock to jacksonville to play an nfl

video game. in the middle of the live streaming competition, the shooting started. authorrgies con on the scene. entertainment complex along the ty's riverfront and blocked off the area. >> we have one suspect in the case. he is deceased he can scene at this point. he is a whiteale and we are still working to confirm his identity. have injured people at the hospital and we'll release counts later on. we don't have a count for you today. reporter: gamers mshgs traveling from around the country were heart broken. >> it's really unfortunate and absolutely ridiculous. >> the city leaders left stunned. >> i can't believe it. ihought i w still draeming. i never many my life thought that this would happen in jacksonville. i always thought it was being anher city but jacksonville. >> reporter: investigators have not com motive for the shooting. the investigation is on going.

nb news. more now from the young man from d.c. who was shot in the thumb. he startedet tg about what happened just after 1:30 this tourneyn saying, the just got shot up. i'm leaving and never coming back. worst day o my life. he refers to this as being the worst day of his my life. he then tweets, i will never take anything for granted ever again. life can be cut short in a cond. and he ends by saying, if i haven't said it before, i'll say it now. i love all you guys. and moments ago we spoke with his brother. >> he's okay. but the g beside him got shot. andis thumb got -- the bullet hit his thumb it is bad for all the people that, you no he, their families. the one g that have to through what they're going through. and aittle bit of relief. so just mixedmoons.
