strengthening hurricane florence. we have live team coverage tonight on that storm and the flooding and the damage we are seeing in our area, we want to kick things off with meteorologist. what's the localth w situation right now. >> we're dealing with still some rain across the region. we've been dealing wit rain all day. we have breezy conditions too, a littleusty in some spots, but a lot of people want to know if the steady rain we saw today is going to continue for tonight. really, you might have noticed if you have looked out the window recently we hadalhowers g the eastern shore, most of d.c. seeing quite a bit of a break. but as we look off to the west, towards 81, still some light rain. we still have the flooding concerns across the area, flood warnings for all the a ias the bright green including the district and a flood watch for everybody until monday, 6:00 a.m. these are all the remnants of gordon, therocal system.

more organized and stronger now than it was earlier today. w this thing is a hurricane, a category 1 at this moment but it's expected to get stroer. here's the updated track as of 5:00 this afternoon. that's a major hurricane. we'll have to watch this closely, but a category 4 would be catastrophic to parts of the north carolina, south carolina coastline thursday io friday. there's a big area of high prsure. that's going to be set up in new england at isis time. th is going to help to buffer it and keep it farther south giving the carolinas better chance of impact. there's plenty of time for the track to change. if the track stays farther is out there, we have less rain. north, more rain. big area of high pressure over western canada. this will play role of pushing hore as it approaches land. this high will interact with it
