locally hean coming our way. flash flood watches have already been issue for a big chunk of the valley. no flood watches in the immediate d.c. metro area. that could change ler on in the day. heaviest of the rain along the i-81 corridor. not i-95. but look at all the heavy rain across parts ofli north ca. that's all spinning in our general direction so rain chances g ng up withtime. it's dry for now here around the city but there's already rain drops in charlottesville, a roanoke and some of those areas are bringing down heavy rain, indeed. this area is probably going to be our highest rnfall totals with all of this. again a couple arepo ible. flash flood watches already issued. they just expanded that to include the washington metro area. that is brand new as of the last hour or so. heaviest rain, though, 2 to 4

no power. that's the reality this morning. the latest victim was a 3 month old that died when a tree fell on his home. 34 inches of rain fell betweenn thursday sunday. in some areas there's already more than 2.5ee of water rushing into homes and businesses and more wat could be on the way. more than half a million people don't have power this morning. >> conditions are not expected to improve either for days. expectedivers are not to crest until later this week. he's in kingston to show us how high the flood water i this morning. >> i want to give you an idea of what folks in north carolina are dealing with right now. i'm 6 feet tall. this gives you an idea of how gh the water is rising. you can see the street sign, the stop sign and believe it or not this water is still rising. it's not supsed to crest until the end of the week. this is a park. a kid' playground, completely

submerged. we have been talking to people grabbing their boats andto tryi o back to their neighborhood and seeing their entire neighborhoodel compl submerged under water. water up to the second story window. right now the real worry at this point is the flooding and whether this water continues to pour into some of the neighborhoods around here. chris lawrence, news 4. all that flooding lead to more than 1,000 water rescues. take a look, a man in a,boli north carolina had to wait in the bed of the pickck up t for rescuers to arrive. water was about to flood even the bed of the truck. he was attempting to eape the teooding when his car took on too much >> a dam in eastern north carolina couldn'told backhe large amount of water brought on by the storm.
