passed but parts of north carolina are still experiencing serious flooding. thousandsleading to of water rescues. rivers overflowing into neighborods left people scrambling for higher ground. several national guard high water trucks helpedeople get to dry land yesterday. the flooding situation could get more dire since several aren't expected to crest until later in the week. they're unearthing all sorts of creatures. can you guess what this is? it is a colony of fire ants flooding in flood waters in columbus county. that colony hassa nthous of fire ants. people have seen them all over and these fire ants can seriously hurt someone that alss fi themselves stuck in flooding so stay away. >> but you can't handle that. i don't know why that's freaking me out. look.m trying not to maybe because it looks like a big blob. it could be several weeks before evacuees from the carolinas can

gok home. >> this morning the university of maryland is home to dozens of people that fled hurricane florence. she left her storm ravaged home in jacksonville, north carolina with her children and grandchildtn. she didn'ven plan to come to maryland. she just kept driving north. she said she is thankful that the red cross shelter was there. >> i appreciate it. allworkers. they're very lovely to the children and myself. like i said, they took care of me. i needed insulin. >> more than 17,000 evacuees are staying inhelters from here to north carolina. the red cross is asking people to donate money instead of bringing splies to the shelters. now we will continue to track theemembnants of florence.
