from arizona to question brett kavanaugh and his accuser during thursday's hearing. her name is rachael mitchell and she will lead the questioning about dr. christine blasey ford's accusations that when tey were teenagers judge kavanaugh tried assault her. kavanaugh has denied the accusations and say he i eager to answer questions during the hearing. president trump who has been reserved in his comments about this controversy railed against democrats in a visit to the u.n. yesterday. he says they want to derail this nomination. >> the democrats a playing a con game,c-o-n, a con >> is there anything -- >> they know it's a con game. they knowig he's quality. they wink at each other. they're winking. >> president trump also blasted kavanaugh's second accuser debra ramirez. she alleges kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a party at memory says she has gaps because she had been drinking. the president says those gaps are not a gsod enough r to stop the confirmation.

violence continued last night. two men were shot on benning road northeast. xtra patrols have been in the area. as of this morning there have been 119 homicides in d.c. that number has already surpassed all the killings in 2017 when there were 116. marylandamily is pleading for the driver who hit and killed their son to come forward. rapping up-old was work with his dad in gainesville on sunday when he was killed. this morning investigators have a new clue that may help lead to the driver. this security cooerage shows the car slowing down before taking off. investigators are looking for a white chrysler 300. it's a 2005 to 2010 model that will likyel have damage to the front on the driver's side. a gound me page has been set

carspp were sto in the road inches away from the hole, cars teetering e on thedge that had to be towed out ofhere. the residents in this area didn't have water for the day. they had to shut the water off. basically what happened was several cracks in the water main burst and that erodedeome of underpinnings of the road. all of the soil and rock washed away. once that happened it completely collapsed. now we d speak with one of the anc commissioners who says, you ow, all of this new development in the area, like new washington wizards, mystics facility, is the cause. >> if you don't fix the pipe although you are taking the fee from us then this is what's going to happen and this can happen any time. >> reporter: okay. so bottom line b waterk on. aat's the good news but here

new details this morning about the bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run outside the natural history museum. tom hallowell was a museum employee who biked to work every day. he was hit along constitution avenue monday on the way to hrk. the driver who h ran a red light and left the scene. his wife has a message for the driver who still hasn't been found. >> i hope and pray that there was a rl significant reason andwhy he had to go so fast he had to disregard the traffic light. i mean, i canne only imahat there might be a reason. >> right now police are only saying the car that hit hallowell was a dark sedan. his wife says she will spend the rest ofer life trying to make the roads safer for bihiclists. morning the search continues for any survivors left
