it's a weather alert day. tell us about it. >> we're in storm team 4 weather alert because of the higds w still out there and the massive temperature drop that i'm tract,ng. fi let's talk about winds. take a look, all thereas a under a wind advisory until 6:00 a.m. this includes the entire d.c. metro area down through southern maryland and parts of northern virginia. gusts up to 40 miles per hour still out there right now and for your corningmute you want to watch for winds and downed trees in the roads. all of us encountered a lot of them on our way in this morning. as the winds comedown, it's still breezy throughout the day today and much cooler. here's theatest on the wind gusts and you can see they're starting to lminutish atle bit right now but winchester still having windf gusts 46 miles per hour. so noticing the winds this morning and some of you could be dealing with flooded roads in southern maryland. most of southern maryland through southern prince george's coun is under a flood warning

you can see the rushing flood waters turn roads into rivers. drivers had to go really slowly but in some cases cars were left stranded. the wind was also a problem knocking out per to about 10,000 people at one point. they also confirmed at least one to wado. >> thee similar scenes like this east of 95 and south of fredericksburg. some received 3 to 6 irgegs of rain last night. >> people are still without wer this morning. in mexico beach, much of that town has been reduced to rubble. look at that scene. the 155 miles per hour from the category 4 hurricane flattened homes and businesses everywhere. search and rescue crews are searching damaged buildings looking for survivors. two of the largest hospitals in

panama city took hits as well forcing hundreds of patients to be transferred to hospitals. hat itners are wondering will even take to rebuild their lives. >> we had a lot of people lose their homes. all of their homes are just shed out. this is devastating. >> 285 people in mexico beach defied mandatory evacuation orders. so have been rescued but most are still unaccounted for. >> and hurricane michaelad been downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it hit north carolina where people are still trying to recover from hurricane florence. in charlotte, the strong winds uprooted trees sterday. ooded parts of greensboro and in winston salem, it forced people to evacuate their apartment. the storm knocked out power for 400,000 customers across the state. >> time is a5:05 we're following breaking news in the district. someone was shot ineoetown just before 11:00 last night.

shortly after that, a woman was found injured and looking for police at 20th and l street. seinvestigators say t two incidents are connected. we did spot a car with bullet holes in that area and we're still worki to find out whether this is some kind of road rage cident. >> two people arrived at separate hospitals last night with gunshot wounds. now police are trying to figure out whether the victims weream hurt in the shooting. we found police investigating one area in springfield. we'll update you as we learn more ation. >> new details this morning only on news 4. an arrest has been made in the killing of a local woman riding in a lyft car more than a year ago. she was killed when the car she was in was hit head on by another vehicle. according t newlyreleased charging documents, the driver of that car was going 70 to 80

a huge tree was blocking all the lanes of river road in northwest d.c. good news for drivers and the people that livethere, the tree was cleaned up and the roads should be open very soon. good morning. >> we just learn that st. mary's county and charles county maryland public sch als are on two-hour delay because of concerns about road conditions in those areas. we have team coverage as you start your friday morning. >> amelia draper is tracking what's left of michael and the cool down that started overnight. amelia, and some flooding we have to worry about.
