country gotten any better a responding to or protecting places we go to everyy? >> well, i think some obvious targets, perhaps. butealize this city where this shooting took placen california. it was rated the third safest city to live in in the united states. so you know, law enforcement is challenged looking at something like that. and the first responders were there a minute or two after the call came in and the others followed rwafteards. the shooting starts to take place. it looks like he fired more than 30 names on two minutes. >> let's talk more with t gunman, a navy vet, suffering from ptsd. what do we know in his motive?

>> well, that's one of the things we're trying to do. to get inside the head of this dead man and try to figur why did he do it? what was the trigger? but you suggested, he might be a victim of ptsd. supposedly he was in combatn afghanistan. that was about a half dozen years ago. nonetheless it was there. we lose on average, 20 veter a day. 20 military veterans, either currently in the military or who had beenarn the milit to suicide on a dailyis bas here in the united states. ptsd in many cases, pression, is at the root of this. t we have look at some dy, thisindividual. and please know, i'm not trying to give him any reason to commit a shooting.it was a terrible thing to takeac e. but his mother even suggested she was afraid of him. he had trashed this house, barricade inside, fired shot.

i think this is the best day of work i've ever had out here checking o the fall foliage. we're in laurel, maryland. we're sing some really nice colors. but also a lot of dull color as well. we had so much rain. we're the sixth wettest year on record and such warm temperatures did impact our fall foliage. leavesoticing a lot of drop but you can see some pretty trees in there. somes, yell some oranges. as you were saying, heading into the week, we're talking about rain tomorrow. winds on saturday. and then cold temperatures on nd . so today is the day to check out the fall foliage. aot of it will come down over the weekend. for the most part across the area, w hre seeingh to peak color which is right on track for this time of year. that rain tomorrow and wind on saturday. a lot of the leaves will come down. we predicted 100% of raining leaves on saturday. so enjoy it up there.
