this is the weekend that you can pull out the sweaters and even the puffy coat. >> an early tasterf win for sure and we have a lot of outdoor events including thenbc 4 community stshred. >> fet's check in with storm team 4's lauren rickets who is tracking thiese temperatures. >> in additioo that, high school football games on this saturday afternoon. it's going to be pretty out there. of course, weather alert for today because of the chilly conditio. some of t coldest temperatures we have seen this year. i feel like we sayhat every weekend, but going into november, i think this might be the last weekend i say it until we slip into the teens, but it feels like the a 20s 30s out there with the wind. here in d.c., we can deal with the cold temperatures but the winds add insult to you can see the temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

folks get to theirport and catch their flight. much more orderly than last night. und here asbuses a they shuttle people around the closed stations. last night turned out to be how inner connected the various modes of transportation that we rely on are and when something goes wrong on any one, you can feel theects across planes,ns trai and automobiles. now this all really began toward the evening rush. metro had planned some track wo at the national airport. those stations are closed but there's also constructionon goi at two terminals at national airport. now you also said we'd get more people driving while taking car shares to get to the airpo and a little bit of bad weather and you have the perfect storm. people were takin hours to do commutes that may hene tak minutes earlier.

murder-suicide. officers arrested her near her home in west virginia. she now faces two counts of first-degree murder. they initially believed helen shot and killed aer mother then turned the gun on herself in july of 2017. but then investigators uncovered a family drama involvingmoney. >> megan attempted fraudulent money transfers from her mother's account on the day of the murders as well as the day befo. >> well, detectives say more charges could be filed. >> later this morning, they kick off thenrlment drive. the mayor says all d.c. residents enrold into a quality health care. it begins at 11:00 this morning and goes until 3:00 this afternoon. open enrollmentts l until january 31st of 2019. >> a surprise on late night television last night in honor of veteran's day.

>> thisnd marks the 25th anniversary of the vietnam women's memorial. we want to start at the beginning because we know that you are a veteran. you arene of the thousands of women who sved and volunteer and push for women in the military resources. a little b about your background. >> well, i was a farm girl and had two older brothers serving in the military and thear i vietnam is going on in the 60s and i thought about my brothers, i thought about my farm friends,

boys tha were being drafted and i thought i should go too as a nurse. i was sdying nursing so i went to vietnam in 1968-69. the height of the war. we lost about 30,000 of t names on the wall in '68-69. so i come home m lit of my brother and sister veterans we were not treated well. we were not welcomed at home. and we were disparaged a it was hard. it was painful. we tried to put vietnam beh us. and we did that for awhile until 1982 when i came out here fe dedication of the wall. >> take ushrough that. there were sometr suggles in getting this memorial put together. >> yes, there i in '83 learned there would be an addition to the memorial and that it would be a statue of three men.

and at that time, i came out there again and i went back home and told my husband i said honey they're going to add a statue of three men, honorinmen. if they're going to do that, there has to be one for the women. an my husband said, well, who is going to do that? >> i guess i am. and so it began. >> and so it began. and ten years later because of push back and people in powerful es didn't agree that it should be a memorial for women on the wall. now when i did my research, there was no google then. i spent a lim of in the library, i was stunned. i was stunned to learn that in our nations capitolas there not one memorial honoring military women. so what i was doing was actually

a first, and why should there be position? ll, it was competition, i guess. and people wondered if we were worthy enough? did we derve a memorial. but we proved -- k> you did. but the w is not over. and years have gone by. you can say that we've made som progress, but there's still many women that don't want to t talk abouir experience. don't want to bring up their vietnam experience, but there's somehaing happening tonight you're hoping will change that. >> well,he candle light ceremony tonight in conjunction with the 26th anniversary are to bring women a men and family and visitors around the world together for a veteran's memorial and for families it's about healing, but it's also, you know, we women sod on the shoulder of those women in or korea, war ii, world war i, and now the younger generation of wom are standing on our shoulders and learning from us that we don't give up.
