good morning, welcome to news 4 midday. i'm eun yangat thislite shows the campfire in northern california. it has neay wiped the city of paradise off the map. the fire is not only the state's most dtructive wildfire but also the deadliest it hay seen in nea100 years. jay gray reports on the fierce fire fiegtght at bot of the golden state. >> reporter: nearly three dozen people are now dead, hundreds are unaccounted for. in northern california the city of paradise is completely burned to the ground. >> it was a beautiful place. stul raging this fire is already the most destructive in statest y. more misery in southern

the president is taking heat for a twt about the fires. take a look. he tweeted on saturday, quote, there is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in california except that forest management is so poor. one california fire association tweeted right back. mr. president, with all due respect, you are wrong. the crews working the front line on deadly fires say there's an urban fire and has nothing to do with forest management. the california profeional firefighters union says the firefighters and communities deserve an apology from president trump. now to our forecast here. our issue today is cold rain just a bad combination. n with don't need anymore rain. meteorologist laucketts joining us with a look at when we can expect the first few rain drops. >> one thing i want to mention about thefires, especially the northern one, the good news is the winds artolightening up

>> reporter: this has been a scary several hours for neighbors who livemet that mont county neighborhood who say they heard the several shots sunday afternoon not knowing what was going on. and then they saw police were involved and also that a young man who live on their blocks for several years was the suspect here. first, let's give you a layout of where this happened. we're talking about right off germ germantown road. it was quiet until yesterday when calls came inf a man brandishing a gun and threatening that community. we also have video showing the aftermath here. that's the systuspect being put the back of an ambulance moments after this police-involved shooting. police saying that officer worn body cameras were rolling during the shooti tape.capture it on so police will have that. we also don't know how many shots were fired or what kind of

gun the suspect was using. all of that still under investigation at ts time. for many neighbors who heard these shots and saw what happened afterwards, very scary stuff. sadly, they were not surprised to hear whoas involved in this shooting. >> my son knocked on d myr and said there's gunshots. and i'm like in my neighborhood? but i knew where it would be coming from. so unfortunately, the man tst the suspect is a little troubled. >> so we are still ngawai more information from montgomery county police about the shooting. et we do know this suspect suffered serious injuries when taken to the hospital. he's not yet been named by police nor do we know the number o of thoughts fired. we'r in montgomery county, i'm

someone coming back with an injury. a lot of times we expect veterans to come home and just pick up where they left off. there's a lot more to it. we're trying to touch on that. this injury and being a veteran is part o who nick is, but it's not all encompassing. we're trying to show a character that's trying to pickett up the pieces and move on with the fe. >> tell us about the event that brought you for the veterans day weekend. >> we have donffa bunch of ent things. we had a tour of the unknown soldier. that was one of the things that stood out for us. the attention to detail that these people do and what they were doing, it wasy a rea special afternoon. we can do whate can to meet with veterans and military servicemen and women. it's been a weekend of getting to meet uncredible people and hear their stories.
