in the district. we're working to learn more shooting onrnight 17th street at minnesota avenue. >> news 4's justin finch is live with the latest. >> reporter: we can tell you the investigation is still very much ramping u we do know there was a shooting overnight, but p released much more detail than that, about the victim or perhaps a motive involved in this case. f who theve an idea are looking for. first, let's take you to the scene here. this is 17th street and minnesota avenue in southeast. close to 12:30 this morning, that shootin was reported in that area. police stayed on that scene for hourng investigand collecting clues and likely also speaking with wnesses. back out live, i say that because police have an idea of just who they are looking for. we're told they have two men in a black sedan they're trying to find in connection to this

a new harvard study suggests kids who start school a year earlier are more likely to be diagnosed with adhd. researchs found kids born in august were 30% more likely to be diagnosed compared torn kids in september. there were no differences in diagnoses for students living in states with a diffent cut-off date. researchers say the younger children may have a harder time sitting sll than some of their classmates. experts suggest doctors take the patient's age and cut-off dates into consideration before prescribin medication. more news for your health now. there are new cancer screening recommendations from the doctor.

a new study suggests that women with certain risk factors start getting an annual mammogram at age 30. 1 that years earlier than the iccommendation from the am cancer society and ten years earlier than some other breast capper cancer experts say. the latest study is coming out of nyu. researchers considered data from more than 2 millioney women. ay elevated risk factors include dense breasts or a family history of breast cancer. the family of ay second lieutenant richard collins iii has turned his senseless death into something positive. the bowie state student was stabbed to death on the universi c of marylandpus last year. a scholarship has now been established in his name. the $1 million state fund will benefit rotc students who aend historically black colleges and universities in maryland. his parents said this is the best way to honor their short but exceptional life.

this is the situation that greeted firefighters when they arrived here on the scene. just intense flames shooting out of the second floor windows there. it was a very difficult fire to actually battle here for a couple of reasons. first of all, there were propane tanks up on the roof of the restaurant itself. that complicatedrs matte and then, of course, we had the very blustery and windy conditions last night as this fire was raging. those winds just kind of fanning the flames. so a difficult situation. fortunately, though, firefighters were able to get a handle on things. they prevented the fire from spreading to the business and the church next door. it was contained here to sumah'e aurant. but the damage just extensive here. the big question is what started this fire. at this point, we don't know the cause. back to you. >> all rht. megan, thank you. we're seeing more from tesident trump's perspective as it relat the ongoing russia

some of the children killed was found dead in a separate location. according to the nbc affiliate there, police say they went tex the county to tell him about the deaths of his children,nd that's where they found him dead. right now it's not clear what killed him or whether heie before or after the fire. officials say the kids range in ages from 2 months old to 10 years old. two adults did make it out of the home. no word yet on what may have caused this fire. right now in southern california, nearly a dozen mmunities have already been given mandatory evacuation orders ahead of some strong rain. this is in the los angeles county area that was just hit by a deadly wildfire. now the concern is mudslides. normally plants and soak up a lot of the rain, but the fire took away the vetation, which then increases the potential for mudslides. back in januar a downpour after a wildfire created a mudslidehat killed 21 people in santa barbara. so from time to time, we
