hair. police hope someone will come forward and identify her. little is serving three life sentences, as we said, in texas. developing this morning, take a goodook at this picture. d.c. police believe this man, malik , is responsible for killing a former valedictorian of eastern high school. 20-year-old randall francis was shot monday on bning road northeast. family members say the shooting may have started after an argument over a girl. an update nowtoo a we first told you about yesterday morning. d.c. leaders have sent a strong message to the saudi embassy following the murder of journalist jamal khashoggi. >> an area advisory neighborhood commission voted to rename part of new hampshire avenue in fro of t embassy jamal khashoggi way. the group says that will be a daily reminder to the saudis that killing khashoggi was ac ptable. the cia says it has a high confidence that the saudi crown prince order khashoggi's killing inside the embassy in turkey. many in government have criticizedte the wouse for

minnesota avenue. police are searching for t possible suspects connected to the shooting. coming up at 6:45, news 4's just justin finch will have a live report. still developing in northwest d.c. this morning, fire investigators hope to find out what sparked this intense fire. this wasust before 7:00 last night on 7th street northwest at s ic sumah's west a restaurant. >> megan mcgrath is live for us this morning. what can you tell us? >> reporter: it really was an intense flame, a tremendous amount of damage. if you look behind me, you can see the charred debris that's still out here on the sidewalk along 7th street. inside sumah'sra rest, basically the whole structure has been gutted. is just a charred mess inside there. take a lookhi at cell phone camera video. these were the condi ons that were happening when firefighters arrived on the scene.

week. tortly after the alert went out tuesday afternoo navy said there was no shooter and that the alert was supposed to be part of a drill. yesterday a navy spokesperson said that wasn't the case. instead, someone actually thought there was a real threat, and that person not security, which sparked the lockdown and big response from area police. >> this was a real-world response to what somebody thought was an actualer event. whathey received in the alert, we did not see. >> montgomery county executives still haven't received a clear explanation on how this mistake was made. a maryland congressman was in the hospital for a meeting at the time.nc he's lng an investigation into the situation. 6:34 now. we turn to our other top stories this morning.er some southcalifornia communities that just dealt with wildfires are being evacuated again. heavy rain is expected there nd today, there are concerns the storms will sparkeoudslides.

21e died earlier this year in a mudslide after a wildfire in santa barbara. the man who killed a virginia teen on her way to a mosq confessed to the crime. darwin martinez torres struck a plea deal with prosecutors yesterday. back in june of 2017, he killed the 17-year-old ahe dumpe body in a pond. with a plea agreement, martinez torres avoids the death penilty but spend the rest of his life in prison. the maryland murder case madeamous by the "serial" podcast will be back in cou today. adnan syed'sef dse team will try to get a n trial. podcast listeners will remember he was convicted in 2000 of strangling his ex-girlfriend and burying her body in a baltimore park. metro transit police have arrested the two people accused of assaulting a blind man on a metro train. police say 18-year-old darion rivers and a juvenile attacked the blind man monday on a in
