reporter: the truth of the matter is we drive across these bridges every day. the department of transportation has gotten serious about fixing th and the work is paying off. d.c. bridges are getting stronger just a few years ago, the cit had 69 bridges that were deemed structurally deficient, meaning they need some immediate fixes. now the city says it's down to just six bridges listed as structurally deficient. >> it's important because it's structurally deficient. we want to keep it safe for commerce and driving. >> works under way to get the number of bridges down to two. >> we went ahead and addressed the ones thatst were mo critical. now we're getting the last ones on the list. >> this means upcoming roadwork along therr 295 coor, bridges and interchanths being fixed. will mean delays for drivers around d.c., rgryland

moscow. >> cohen now saying the talks for that project lasted well into thema priry season, even beyond the pointhat donald trump clinched the nomination for the white house. before leaving for the g20 summit in argentina, the president called cohen, quote, a weak person and claimen c lied to get a reduced sentence. what does this all mean for special counsel's inveheigation and what are t implications for the president? >> could michael cohen have more to say? let's get the latest from pete williams, joining us. cohen already pled guilty to actually more serious charges. >> back in -- >> right. this plea is connected to the mueller investigation. what's he get by doing this well, he getsle ence. what this tells us is how much michael cohen is cooperating. aden he p guilty in august in federal court. in a case not brought by robert

mueller. financial fraud and tryg to arrange payoffs to women claiming sexual encounters with mr. trump.r he didn't entento a plea agreement. h he has agreed to cooperate with the investigors. he tells us how much he has been meeting with them and clearly they'll have his future cooperation. a couple of things to bear mind here. number one, this charge today that he's pleaded guilty to, doesn't say anything about ssian election meddling. what it says is that he lied to congress. that's the sole substance of what he's pleaded guilty to and that's the only illegal conduct that was alleged in the courtdo ments today. the government doesn't claim that the trump organization's efforts to get a trump tower going in moscow were in any way illegal. cohen said he li to congress about three things. he lied about when it started as you noted. he sd it ended in january of 2016.

but it kept goin for at least another six months. secondly, he never tried to travel to russia, talked about it. talked to trump organization people about it and thirdly, hev says he had any contact with russian officials when in fact he e-mailed a top aide and talked to them for 20 minutes. >> as we heard today, the president tried to blow this off, lobbying personal insults and attacks. rudy giuliani said that the president'responses, written responses to mueller's questions are ctsistent to w cohen had said in court. what are the legal i mplication for the president? >> well at this point there aren't any obvious immediate legal implications for the president. but there may be legal implications for other people who testified befor congress. what cohen admitted today is lying to congress in two ways. a letter he sent to theouse senate intelligence committee and then his testimony before el the senate intgence committee last year. now we know the staff is going through that other people have

restaurant. the teens just 13 and 14 years oldacing felony charges. chris gordon is outside the marco poloestaurant in vienna, with reaction to the arrests today. chris? >> reporter: people who work in this area say they are relieved. they hope that these arrests bring to an end the vandalism that has gone on here foran mons the arson that leads this building bind me in ruins. hese pictures show the heavy smoke and flames destroying the building. until a couple of years ago, this was the marco polo restaurant in vienna, virginia. the photos were taken by rick louisian working next door when the fire broke out. police ordered everyone tockove rom the growing fire. >> i thought it was going to spread because our tree, see we have trees overhanging our store and the flames were wide. red.were wide, they were i thought that if it got that tree, then our store would go.
