chris gordon, thank you so much righnow, the presidential plane that has been temporarily irnamed special mission 41 in honor of the 41st president is taking president george h.w. bush back to texas for the final time. in about an hour, an arrival ceremony will be held in houston. thepresident's casket will be take on the his home church, st. martin's cathedral, where he'll lie in repose tonight, funeral serviceso be held there tomorrow. president bush's final resting place will be by his wife's side in college station, texas. and tomorrow this train will carry the president's casket 70 miles from houston t his presidential library. the train bush 41-41, it was dedicated to the late president back in 200 by the union pacific railroad, and it was painted to resemble air force one. a live look at the white house where flags rein at

temperatures about 10 degrees below average. we have some snow showers out there. 270 up w is right along through frederick and i-70, a few more showers back to the west around winchester. most is on the light side. but just to the west of ic fred the snow is coming down pretty good there. you can even see on the side of the roadt the left p of the screen, a little bit of a dusting, snow coming down now. this is i-70 westbound at south mountain. you come out of frederick, start going up south mountain and see that snowfall making its way down. i think the roads are looking okay. i just saw one of the trucks out there helping to keep the roads clean. temperature-wise, only 38 now, 33 in hagerstown. to the north, it will stay coldr in for a very cold couple of days. we're tracking that weekend storm. we'll have the latest on our thoughts, what w expecting coming up in just aut 10, 1

minutes. an update to some breaking news. police are investigating a shooting at a disunt mart in seat pleasant. anrm store employee got into a confrontation with a suspected shoplifter and duringha scuffle, the gun went off and the bullet hit the suspected shoplifter who died later at the hospital. police have not said if the victim had a weapon, but police are talking to dozens of witness. the store employee is legal i allowed to have ta t firearm. >>rrible loss to a northwest washington neighborhood. a woman who spent decades of her life living in the same apartment in bloomingdale was killed in a fire. darcy spencer joi u from her block on north capitol street. >> reporter: adding to thise tragedy, learned today that this 96-year-old woman did not have one of these inside herme

ho a smoke alarm. this is the home where she lived all those years by herself, and tonight the fire department is urging people, if you have an elderly neighbor, an elderly loved one, make sure they have working smoke alarms in their home. broken glass, boarded-up windows and doors, charred debris in the backyard. th is all that's left of anna mae's home. >> the knocked out all these windows that are covered up and there were large, dense plumes of smoke comingout, especially the top floor. >> reporter: the 96-year-old woman died in the place she or called home many decades. firefighters say there were no smoke alarms. d.c.'s fire marshal says you need to make sure your home is protected and to look out for others. >> if you notice a problem, especiallyn thiscase, no smoke alarms in the home, make a call, advocate forhat resident, and make a call on their behalf so the fire department or other city services can come out and assist

demolition. we're eecting a key vote tonight on plans for a solar plant in spotsylvania county. the planning commission is set to decide on plans by the s-power to build the largest solar farm on the east coast. it's planned for 6,000 acres in the western part of the county. opponents say it violate the county's plan to keep that area rural, and the panels will be ugly to look it will be good for the county as power is promising new vegetation to improve the view.> efore t.c. williams and "remember the titans," stratford jr. high school the first virginia school to be integrated. this week,ou arlingtony school leaders will work to honor that legacy while choosing a name for a new middle school. here's northern virginia bureau isporter david culver. >> reporter: thi how principal ellen smith introduces herself over the phone. >> my name is ellen smith at the new middle school at the historic stratford building.

the ribbon was cut this morning on a segment of belmont ridge road from gloucester parky to hay road. is is the latest segment that

will update the road from route 7 to the prince william county line. >> belmont ridge road is a very high-traffic volume road. we've had a lot of accidents, a tremendous amount of congestion, especially trying to get to route 7 in the p.m. rush hour and greenway in the a.m. rush hour. >> itncludes some new paths along the road. there will be a new bridge that goes over the w&od road. and if you like to use that trail, you are going to get a parking lot. > investigators are trying to determine if a speed camera in the district malfunctionedr was vandalized. a resident saw fire in the camera and called police. officers saw flames and smoke coming from the camera and used a fire extinguisher to put it out. the arson squad is ting to determine the cause. dozens of police converge on an area target today but not for a crime. this is a special event that drew them to t store with a
