coverage. we are in weather alert mode tonight because of the winter storm. you can seet how much snow has come down in parts of virginia. sohe big question now, really, is what's next? somara joins us new counties that have added to the advisory. >> now we are seeingnc p william county added to the advisory. the storm was able to nudge farther north. itw much farther north wil go? holl get to that in a moment. i want to show you under the winter weather advisory. if you live in a county shaded in purple, that's you. one to three inches ofain ssible. maybe an isolated four inches. farther south, stafford, st. mary's county under winter advisory, three encinches plus

snow. fredericksburg, notice how we're looking at this bright white in contrast with that lighter gray. that's tell us where the heaviest snow is falling. down towards fredericksburg, we already saw reports out of andmary's at three inche continuing to rise. that's also impacting the visibility. ss than a mile in fredericksburg, which tells you howly the snow is coming down. so he d.c. metro area, not much. you might see flakes flurries coming in. we'll talk about that in just a moment. back to you, erika. >> somara, thank you. the further south of d.c. you go, the more snow, places lik fredericksburg have seen pretty heavy flakes in the last couple hours. amy is live for a. taut the conditions there. have you seen maybe even

treacherous conditions on the roads, lot of spinouts maybe? >> reporter: erika, yeah, the snow is comingown pretty hard here in fredericksburg. we he huge flakes, already three to four inches built up. it is absolutely gorgeous out here, the snow and the lightsesn the t look like something out of a holiday card. of course, not too many people out hereight now. 's pretty much a ghost town at the moment. we have also been monitoring the conditions along the roads. earlier tonight alongth i-95 s we passedha car thad spun out or crashed along the side of the road. that was just one of several crashes reported today by the virginia department of transportation. the snow has been coming down faster than they can keep up with we noticed several stretches of i-95 did appear to have not been plowed. we did see a salt truck doing its thing on the rols, but stil a very slippery condition.

a traumatic p sceneying out in tacoma park this week after a woman is attacked by a police dog. the k-9 somehow got loose, clamping dnn her leg and she tried to pry its jaws off her leg. derrick ward with a frightening story. >> reporter: she usually has no problems with dogs. her husky is testament to that. early tuesday morning they had a run-in with anoth dog that left her scarred and in pain. tacoma involved was a park police dog. >> we heard, like, abo 20 police cars coming past us. seemed like they were chase ing a vehicle. ter: they were. the car stopped on carroll and officers swarmed the area.

among them, a k-9 officer from the police. >> somehow is dog got car without a leash or a harness. initially it was giving her some chase around the car. she was yelling athe dog .trying to get it in ord >> reporter: other officers you do not hurry blooks along, in the process she fell into bushes. >> the dog pretty much immediately came over me and walk behind the police personnel and came and attacked my left leg. >> reporter: the dog held with enough force tt sheouldn't scrappy. the wounds to her leg required 21titches and she got cuts to hands trying to pry the dog's jaws open >> that's scary to me that, you know, that type of training isn't down pat with the dog. >> reporter: police eventually rushed her to the hospital where, besides the stitches, she had to get a tennous shot. days later walking is still painful, as are the thougwis that encounter with the police k-9.

derrick ward, news 4. ar tacoma police say the dog has been taken out of active service while they investigate the incident. we continue to follow our top story, trm winter s bringing snow to many parts of our region. news 4 continues the coverage in brandy wine, maryland. >> we're in branch avenue in the brandy winerea of prince george's county. you see the road there, the snow isg com down. but it's not really laying on the roadway. but the recognioadways are wet. if you're out and about, you definitely want to be careful. we just spoke to one person who was putting some air in his tires. >> reporter: what are the conditions like out here? >> it's cold. slick. so people just t no be careful while theydriving. like i said, i'm trying to get out of here.

litt farther south. i want to show you the storm. we're going to zoom in and take you south of the district where they're seeing some of the heavier snow bands set up. seeing breaks here. we look for tshading. you see this gray shade? this is the lighter snowersus e bright white that's coming down heavier. it really has been bright white in fredericksburg, so that tells you how much snow is coming down. a few paces north, washington, d.c., is completely dry. this is a very stark line of demarcation. the dry air keeping the snow to our south but we are ttarting pick up some flurries possibly in southern fairfax county, prince william county, you were d to the winter weather advisory. you could get an accumulation of snow.ri southerne george's, same scenario for you. we're looking at l htsnow, some flurries, no major accumulation there. here's aoo at the forecast
