developi this morning ad.c. neighborhood is shocked and saddened after a 15-year-old was shot and killed. >> d.c. police are now searching for the gunman. justin finchh is live w more on this tragic shooting. >> right now d.c. police trying to get more tips in this case. this happened i broad daylight. this 15-year-old boy was cwnsed nd shot and killed. the response lead to this, a hu police presence off the 2900 block here this is just a few blocks north of garfield elementary school. this teen boy was targeted and running for his life from gunfire in at least one of two mening that gun at him. he was cornered in a stairwell

and he was shot there several times. he was rushed to the hospital where he died. now there is a chance that a nearby camera might have caught some of this on camera and peaps the suspects as well. >> this is absolutely heart broken for their family. some liveearby and they're crushed now just days before christmas. >> the most important thing, you have a family that's in there andhey're devastated by losing their son, their grandson during the holid season. if somebody saw it, please give us a call. >> they do believe those two men that were chasing the two boys were wearing masks. that could be a iig clue this case as well. the teen was a student but his name has not yet been released. >> justin, thank you.

>> one of those threats was to the university ofd maryl yesterd yesterday. most locations received an e-mail claiming an bomb was planted in the building. the only w to prevent an explosion was to pay a ransom in bitcoin. they were evacuated. we spokeo workers directly effected by this. >> we heard a fire alarm go off in building. we heard it was an emergency, everybody in the building started walkingoutside. after about 10 minutes the cop came and after that we heard it was a bomb threat. >> the response to theti threat up first responders and snarled traffic. the fbi says it's working with local police to fin the sender. >> it's now 6:04. a mother put her oafy on the line to save her baby in northern virginia.

she was pushing the stroller across a intersection when a dump truck hit her during the morning rush. this happened yesterday morning as she crossed lee highway. she was able to move they stroller a from the crash when it appeared she was going to be hit. witnesses rushed to the scene to help the victim. >> she was taing. she was conscious. she was in a huge amount of pain, but she was able to talk and the baby seemso be fine. >> the mother was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. she is expected to be okay. the baby isunharmed. the driver of the truck remained on the scene. itot clear whether any charges will be filed. >> providence hospital will close several deptments day. any department that doesn't support the emergency care center will be closed. the emergency departmen and services that do support it will stay open through the end of april. they'll continue to provide services at its nursing and rehab center.

people were hurt in the tack. isis claimed that the suspect was one of its own but there's no indication that the group directed m. ristmas market is expected to reopen today. >> a serial killer pleaded guilty to another murder. he entered a guilty plea in texas for strangling a woman in 94. he received an additional life sentence. he was already serving out his previous life sentences for strangling three women igethe los ans area in the late 80s. he admitted to 90 murdersve a 40 year span. that includes maryland in 1972. a hunter found the woman's remains. authorities have been able to tltie l to 36 cases. >> it's 6:08. now to a story we have been following on news 4. a 30-year-old woman accused of being a russian agent fled guilty to conspiracy. she remains in jail without bond. sh expected in court in

while working at an exxon across the road from the prospect plaza shopping center in the city of frederick maryland, police are looking for two suspects in this case. the woman was able to call form help f a nearby cvs and she is expected to be okay. >> an overnight fire swept through a building leaving extensive damage. >> megan is live with what we know right now. megan? >> just awhile ago crews showed up and are starting to work of boarding up the building here. no injuries but a tremendous amount of damage. damage to an organization that rves the community. you can see right there if we push in how these offices in the middle have been completely . gutt this is the on our own of prince george's county it's a organization that according to their mission statement offers hope, information, resources, and opportunities to those with mental health and substance abuse concerns. so an organization working with the community here.

>> 7-year-old girl from guatemala died after crossing into the united states from mexico illegally with her father. the reports say the girl began having seizures after more than 8 hours in border patrol custody. she had a high fever and apparently went days without eating or drinking. the child was flown to a spital but doctors believe she died from septic shock, fever, and dehydration. the border patrol is instigating to make sure that the appropriate policies were followed. >> developing thismorning, a d.c. family was devastated after their 15-year- wd son shot and killed just days before christmas. >> police are now searching for th gunman that targeted the high school student. justin finch is live at police headquaters now with more on this tragic shooting. justin? >> police say at least two suspects are still at large wanted for shooting, chasing, and killing a 15-year-old boy and this morning that teen's

family and d.c. police want to know why. the investigation across the 2,900 block in southeast. this is a few blocks north of garfield elementary school here. this all played out close to 3:30 thursday afternoon during daylight with children and outside. police say this teen was chased by at least two men who reporteg wearin masks, at least one opening fire along the way. one neighbor saying they heard at least 16 shots. shots heard across t area that night. also he was cornered at the apartments in astairwell, we are told, where more shots were fired. he wasushed to the hospital and shot several times where he died. there is a thought that perhaps he w caught on a nearby crime camera, perhaps given a glimpses afterpects in this case and they say those neighbors were not the only ones that heard that gunfire.
