veterans today. they fanned out across arlington national cemetery laying wreaths at each headstone. volunteers laid down more than 200,000 wreaths here. this wreaths across america is taki place at cemeteries across the u.s. and around the world. the goal is to place a wreath on every single american veterans grave no matter where their final resting place is. >> and a man who sved his community more than six decades as a police officersed away. police lieutenant tom jay cox was maryland's longest serving law enforcement officer. he died yesterday at the agef 86. news4 was at his retirement party a couple yearsago. he always wanted to be a police officer. he joined the departmentack in 1955 after enlisting in the army and serving in the korean war. jay cox spent the next 61 years serving in a montgomery county police department.
