security -- >> i will take the mantle. i will be the one to shut it down, i b wonme you for it. >> reporter: -- in a tweet signalled it could last a while with democrats dug in. >> i have never supported a border wall. >> reporter: mr. trump summoned top aides and allies to talk the president later appeared to soften his stance. in a tweet suggesting he might e funding for a steel barrier instead of one made of concrete. a senior administration official told nbc the president is willing to negotiate on the type of barrier so long as democrats agree to opart of any deal. nearly a dozen departments and agencies have run out of funding. roughly 25% of the federal government gone dark. that means 380,000 government employees are furloughed or forced to take unpaid leave until the shutdown end another $420,000 deemed peessential employees are ed to work without pay, that includes tsa agents who are on the job during one of the year's

starting to see some of the first signs here in d.c. now, most of the smithsonian institution museums will be on eir normal schedule. they'll be closed christmas day. that's usually the day they close anyway. otherwise they will be open normally now. if this runs through january 1, they'll re-evaluate and you could see some affect there as well. but take a look now. we have a list of some of the agencies that are indeed affected. again, some 0800, federal employees may be affected, 0,000 of those deemed essential personnel may have to work with deferred pay. contractors are really up in the air, sometimes they don't get the pay back. that's been the case i past shutdown bs buthopefully this will be resolved soon. one gentleman said this put a damper on the christmas spirit not being able to stroll there. live on the ellipse, derrick ward, back to you.
