note, chris and eun, that police don't consider the threat credible, but as aca pion they are adding an extra layer of security at all of the schools mentioned. the teat was made via e-mail or social media and the three schools named in addition to bladensbg hig school and park high school and william wuy school. we have a map. we want to tell you that school leaders put out a tweet saying providing students with a safe and orderly environment is their top priority. all threats are taken seriously. a while agoit spoke a bladensburg police officer said they will keep a closer watch on all of their schools. this school in particular, the high school where we are this morning has its own security

we learned news about a shooting in southeast d. a man has died at the hospital after getting shot on barnaby road. this is near the maryland line.w d on the identity of the suspect or victim. this morning aanemains in critical condition after being shot in the head. he was the teuned victim in a new year's day shooting. he was walking to lunch just after noon yesterday on first and kennedy streets. two nearby groups of men began arguing and someone pulled out a gun. shots were fired and one of the llets hit the man. police are hing surveillance video will lead to an arrest. >> we have a couple of peopl'r talking to and we're searching video. >> the shooting hapned down the street from a d.c. crime camera. tetre are some newls in the death of the u.s. marine

inside the barracks. the gunshot that killed the marine was not self-inflicted. >> we're told the maas on duty and in uniform when he died yesterday with a single gunshot wound to the head. the marine corps is investigating whether the gunshot was accidental or what is officially called negligent discharge of a weapon. >> t right now command priorities are to take care of those involved, specifically the marine's family and friends. >> back in 2013 a marine from south dakota died from a lf se-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at the same barracks. so far the marine's name and age in yesterday's incident has not been released. we've got an update to this massive warehouse fire in upper marlboro. it's taken several days, but the fire is finally out. firefighters have been trying to extinguish it since saturday

house sits in the shadows of the highway. >> i am really grateful that governor hogan is on record as saying that no homesy or prope will be demolished. i mean, we intend to hold him to that pledge. >> reporter: more than a yeaag the governor announced the state will consider ambitious plans to ease gridlock on 270 and the montgomery stretch of the beltway. so far 15 alternatives have been considered including reversible lanes and widening the highway. hundreds of people have sent comments to the state trying to sway decision. using the freedom of information act, we asked for those e-mails and received them. we found an overwhelming number of those notes for any lane expansion. one writing major traffic con kbesion won't be solved by any widening. another, i have many neighbors and favorite restaurants and l stores that w affected. other saying please don't ruin rockvie. supporters say it's okay if it

national zoo will have to change course. those locations are now officially closedntil the shutdown is over. smithsonian officials say they had been using prior year funds to stay open to the public until w. coming up at 6:45 we'll have eeting the bipartisan taking place at the white housen later today hopes of resolving this ongoing matter. the community is in prayer after a devastating crash left three children dead in prince georges county. yesterday they spent their day at the hospital center to mourn the family. on sunday night 5-year-old twins and a 1-year-old were killed en someone plowed into their family car on indian head highway. parents alexis and juanita are still recovering. the driver may have been drunk that hit them. a g fun me page has raised $55,000. a teenager was the victim of a deadly crash in chelestown.

we know eight lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, basically the top members of congress from the house and senate have been invited not necessarily for a sitdown and chat meeting b f what is being described to us by multiple a officials as briefing on border security. this is going to be led, accordin to the press secretary, by senior officials at the department of homeland security as the ptosident tries eep the focus on the border wall, on border security, on his demand for more money for some kind of border barrier. that is something the democrats have been unwilling to give the president and that is partly why we are in the 12th day of the shutdown right now. as it relates to when the government might reopen, remember, tomorrow is the big day when democrats will take control of the house of representatives. when speak designate nancy pelosi is expected to becomer spea nancy pelosi. when that happens democrats will introde a plan, a move to try to reopen the government. basically putting the ball in
