go through the course of the day today. so, kee that in mind. and i couldn't rule out a passing snow shower or snow flurry today. conversational flas flyin by and what will be a very strong northwest wind. we're in the mid to upper 40s around town now. but that again is as warm as we'll be. winds will increase by later on in the afternoon. winds wilbe gusting between 20 and 30 miles per hour. that will make it feel much colder. so temperatures will be in the 30s by the time you come home from work this afternoon and wind chills into the 20s. cold air is here to stay. update on the weekend snow chances comingup. >> thank you, sir. good news is you have temperatures above freezing our water main breaks on university boulevardeastbound, east of connecticut avenue between lexington and st. paul only one right lane getting by. they're hoping to have the roadway o completelyn by noon today. if this is a normal path of travel, be ware.

sears another chance to save the company. the court is giving sears chairman until 4:00 p.m. today to revise his bid to save what used to be america's largest retailer. the company says it has d accepd l that could keep more than 400 stores open and save more than 50,000 jobs, however that deal requires lampert to deposit 400 million. they filed for bankruptcy protection back in october. it is 4:37 now. a second grader from virginia had a national audience for her art work on tuesday. >> it was the google doodle. sara gomez lane w the national google doodle contest her drawing of dinosaur turned into animation on the home page. she will receive $50,000sp to d on technology and sara will receive $30,000 towardco a ege scholarship.

council makes many changes, including a new requirement for d.c. schools. they have to do betterck ound checks before hiring teachers, checking with all prior employers over the past 20 years and requires them to tello future ers if a former teacher in d.c. engaged i sexual misconduct. this comes on the heels of a news 4 iteamnvestigation showed region wide several teachers have slipped through the cracks, admitting or being accused of engaging in sex misconduct but finding new aching jobs in other local school districts. including a prominent case in d.c. where a charter schoolteacher ended up in prison for sex misconduct with a former student. the changes ordered by d.c. council and approved by the mayor's office. >> we want to make sure that adul also know that if something happens, they're going to be caught. and that we're going t know about it and we're going to report them to >> reporter: more about what is changing and the other laws passed recently because of our investigation tonight on news 4

local bar. >> breweries can't release new beers until this shutdown ends. news 4 cory smith explains. >> reporter:n breweriesc. are starting to feel the hit from the government shutdown. that includes atlas brew works here behind me. it's not just that fewer people are coming in to enjoy an adult beverage, that is happening, but it's also that the federal agency that regulates the wholesale side of the operation here is not open. >> justin cox ishe founder of atlas brew works. he traded federal employment for the beer world and thought government shutdowns were behind him, but he was wrong. they've got a new brew that can't be sold in cans until the alcohol and tobacco tax and trade bureau approves the label. that agency is shut down. the process usually takes twoo three weeks and prolonged delay could disrupt the strict schedule the brew master has to follow to create that perfect taste. co is hoping a solution is on the horizon. >> i think the parties involved need to solve the problem. the government shutdown is really starting to proliferate

international airport in 2017. you may recall she claimed the drug was planted in retaliation for her accusing movie moegle harvey weinstein of sexual assault. now to a story you saw first on ns 4, the district is suing the local gym chain the washington sports club. d.c.'s attorney general accthes gym of deceptive cancellation and billing practices. he says the gym i and owner town sports international told customers that they could cancel their memberships at any time for freeho ver, according to the lawsuit, the gym actually requires a six-week written cancellation notice and it chargesancellation fees. >> verbally misleading consumers. consumers would ask, hey, what's the cancellation policy and the folks at the washington sports pub would say there is no requirement, just cancel at any time at no cost. when, in fact, as i indicated there is a 45-day written requirement to cancel and fees
