ill impact your tuesday commut >> justin finch has a look at conditions here in the district. justin, how are things out there? >> reporter: n,aa eun, good morning. we're in southeast and seeing setty good progress out here. theewalks to my right are kind of a mixed bag. you have clear patches and others that just have not yet been touched. thatha compacted snows slick to walk on. but at minnesota avenue, we saw pretty good. the freeway coming out here also looked pretty good. however, on the main streets, the primary streets in d.c., you're going tsee a lot of wide-open, clear streets. however, the rush hour lanes are still packed in with snow and ice and slush. so, keep that in mind as your make yay out this morning, too. we know the metro bus serckce is p and running today, for those that take that. we know, too, that d.c. is trying to make sure some of the neighborhood streets are clear.

start to see salt and sand put down. and temperatures are cold this morning. in the subdivisions, they've been getting there. vdot has so many lane miles to get to that it's s takinge time. with all of the melting that happened and the refreezing overnit, that's the concern as you walk to your car this morning. so far, so good. we have not found major areas. this is what it looked like yesterday. all of the snow just blanketed northern c virginia andered the area. we whe dealing wit so much to clean up. right now, as you tack another look out of our drive, cam he pretty much blacktop everywhere. that's good news. we'll continue to dve around. if we find problem spots, we'll let you know. >> adam, have you seen ice or what looks like black ice on your travelsfa so >> it's really spotty and hard to knowess you get out and step on it. we've been driving through

fast track procedural move. it is not likely to move. second bill would reopen the government through february 28. that would be brought to a vote on thursday. democrats can pass it themselves. but the measure is not likely to get support in the senate. yesterday president trump rejected a short-term fix proposed by lin would temporary reopen the government. from government js to the classroom, fairfax county public schools is holding a second hiring event for furloughed workths today. 're looking for substitute teachers. if applicants clear backgroundy checks t could be in a classroom as ear as next week earning a paycheck. they are considering hosting a third job fair given the demand. spaghetti dinner for furloughed workers today. the locations include foggy

time. the teen escaped last week. patterson is being held on $5 million bail. a panel of republican lawmakers firmly rebuked a veteran iowa representative and blocked him from serving on any house committees. the move comes after iowa representative steve king questioned in a "new york times" article, how white and white supremacy, western civilization lanage became offensive. last night, house republicans voted to remove the iowa congressmanrom the committees. steve king blasted the move saying his comments were taken ou context. several house democrats say they will introduce a resolution condemning's comments. a senior member of the congressiol black caucus is calling for a censure resolution. president trump's nomin will begin at 9:30. barr plans toell the committee special counsel robert mueller
