as we speak. northbound route lanes are blocked here. police activity here. trying to get info and we'll pass it along when we have it. thisg, morn we're learning more about a terror attack that was supposed to unfold in d.c. today. >> a georgia man was arrested for plotting to use explosives to storm into the white house. justin finch joins us from the white house this morning with more on the plot and how the fbi stopped it. justin? >> reporter: good morning. a tipster cam forward, saying that the suspect here, hasher jallal tahebee had radicalized abroad. the investigation began to ramp up back in mar after a tipster alerted authorities that taheb was radicalized and planned to travel abroad. and then, in recent months, taheb started to meet with what he thought were supporters but were fbi agents. they tried t to pieceether how

this all came together. back in march is when the initl tip camen about him being radicalized. according to cou documents. in recent months, taheb began to meet with peoplee he thought w supporters. it was an fbi undercover agent and a source. and this week, the attack was really beginning to come together. officials say thee weapons w being amassed, as well, as a getaway car, so to speak. and tahebhought it was getting into motion, undercover agents arrested him. >> hist alleged int was to attack the white house and othet ta of opportunity in the washington, d.c. area, by using explosiv devices, including an improvised explosive device and antiank rocket. >> reporter: scary stuff. this is why the fbi says those tips really do matter. they urge anyone who suspects anything to come forward with even though he was looking to

compromise with people they disagree with. 31% s they don't want to compromise no matter what. this comes on day 27 o the longest government shutdown in history. the president's declining approval numbers could affect his demand to build a wall along the southern border. there's been no major breakthroughs i negotiations. a group of bipartisan senators are telling the president to treopen the governm now and we'll work with you on the border wall. the sp asked president trump to postpone his state of the union address. yesterday, the president signed a bill into law that would troactively pay furloughed federal workers once the government reopens. federal scontractors,h as janitors, will not get backpay. >> we don't know how we going to get our rent paid next month. i have a utiliht bill r here for almost $200. don't know how that's going to get paid.ha >> more 800,000 federal

hasher jallal taheb is from an atlanta suburb here. he is accused of trying to damage or destroy a federal building, in this case, the white house. he was goi to use explosives and an anti-tank rocket here. with an fbi undercover agent, heb thought he had found some sympathizers. but he was really working withe ives. based on court documents, we're hearing he had his eye o the washington monument and the lincoln memorial. it took a year of hard work. but it came together, the fbi says, because someone came prward. >> it's important nt out that this investigation and arrest was a direct result from a tip fr the community. >> reporter: thisrrest came together just as the suspect here, taheb, thought his plot was coming together only
