include pelosi. it was a trip that typically bipartisan, and they use military aircraft. but in a letter, the president said the speaker should remain t town f shutdown negotiations even though there are no negotiations scheduled at this point. hi also added that pelosi could travel commercially at her own prerogative if she wished. the icspeaker's off said that trip was going to afghanistan to thank the troops there, it had a stop in brussels for the pilots to rest and meet with nato alli allies. the president himself did travel to iraq to meet the troops duringhuheown earlier this month. 70,000 federal workers live in prince george's county, more than any other local cosmty. l businesses tell us they are taking a hit because of the shutdown. we have team coverage of this impact. tomo costeill be exploring the human toll of going weeks without weeks.

we're going t start wit our prince george's county borough chief, tracee wilkins. we're starting toee the impact. >> reporter: this small business is peddling uphl through the partial government shutdown along with workers. >> preients calling saying i can't come in three times this week, can i come in one time because of their copays. >> reporter: she says it's not just the money out of the workers' pockets they need but also reimbursements from the government. >> we're sitting down with our accountants tomorrowo see if our veterans' payments are coming through from the va, our medicare and medicaid payments need to be processed. >> it's one of manyf examples the shutdown shutting down profits. >> 70% of our workforce worse outside of prince george's county. of that workforce, 20% is in the

senators mark warner and tim kaine had a round table todayhe where talked with workers in air travel. let's take a listen to what an air traffic controller and tsa worker had to say today and get your take on the other side. >> because i still have to g to work and i'm still going to go to afwork, i can'rd to pay my baby sitter nine hours a day to be there for a week, so i ave to send him away for a week. i have never been away from my son. >> we have officers that are justangry. angry is not something you need from a tsa officer when they're on a checkpoint and they have to be right 100% of the time. >> talk about a critical job. >> reporter: yeah. hona po. i have to tell you, you see people commenting on twitter, which as you know can be not the nicest place to ht.g ou but you hear people, they're griping, they'll get paid

sculpture contest they have going in. tosght the storm coming through our area and moving across the country to our area in d.c. coming up during the day on saturday. i want to show you how this is going to evolve across the country. his is a major storm and it's going to have hugimpacts as it moves east. friday, tomorrow, we're looking at big time snows in places like omaha, chicago seeing some of it, st. louis changing fro rain to snow, as it moves east we'll see it making its wayur way as well. but watch this, saturday is going to be a chilly day, only the 30s, but the rain snow line is going to stay just to the north andest of the washington d.c. area. saturday morning starting off dry. itaturday afternoon we start to see mostly rain in and around the d.c. area around hage hagerstown, that is where the rain snow line is going to be. could be areas of ice. watch how this moveshrough on saturday. becoming all rain, area that's why we're not concerned

person was taken into custod that person put into the back of while lance, left just a ago. let me show you the scene from chopper 4 flying a over police investigate what happened here. ouran underng is there are two people who have been shot and are in critical condition. the chief of police is here on the scene,long with investigators. we're watching police cars drive in and out of the scene at af quick rate speed as they continue this investigation into exactly what has unfolded here. let me show you that video that chopper 4 got exclusively just a little while ago of that person being taken out of the woods who we assume to be the suspect. initial rerts werehere was a double shooting and police were looking for a suspect. this person being taken into custody here, as i mentioned, just a little while that person was put in the back of an ambulance and taken out of here.

well, somehow a tar dids today in alexandria. witnesses say the car drovth ono sidewalk, hit a building, and came to a stop on top of a parked car. a man who saw the cra tells news4 there was a lot of smoke. he said the driver was shaken but didn't appear to be seriously hurt. the kids wantol tow in the footsteps of their parents. some do anyway, others choose a different path.
