here. and metro is feeling it. metro's manager sent a letter to the senators, explaining the negative impact they're seeing in that letter. metro is losing $4,000 every weekday this shutdown drags on. he goes on to say if things don't go back to normal, metro m will have toe staffing and service changes. that could mean fewer extra trains and fewer eight-car trains to meet rush hour demand. metro also anticipating a $50 million budget gap through the end of january. that's because of unpaid federal reimburseme reimbursement. the general manager are feeling the pain and they're getting concerned about how long the shut mwn drag on and how it impacts service. we're at the federal center station here this morning. noally a busy metro station. not so much these days. back to you.

megan mcgrath has more on how this may affect how you use me o. >> reporter: good morning, guys. we're at the federal center metro station.ld as you w imagine, this station, used by a lot of federal sworkers, i surrounded by government offices. when people are not going to o.rk, they're not using me metro is feeling the pinch as a result of the shutdown. meano's generaler, he sent a letter to maryland's senators, tlying the impact this is having on metro. now, he says they are losing $400,000 every weekday that the shutdown drags on. if things don't go backo normal, metro will have to make staffing and service changes. that cou include fewer trains and fewer eight-car trains to meet demand. by the end of january, metro believes they will have a $50 million budt gap because of

>> you've seen dave here on news 4 today, filling in for melissa with your traffic. he helps you navigate the roads. this weekend, he plae role of lifesaver. >> during the height of the snowstorm, he risked his own life to save a woman. now, dave is a photographer in his spare time. he went to the park tohots of the snow scene there, pp he was there sg away. he heard a woman screaming. a jogger apparently had fallen over a bridge, slid down the embankment and into the icy water. he didn't wait a second. he jumped into that water to save her. >> knew she was under. knew i had to bring her above the surface. luckily, she coughed when i e brought her abter. dragged her on to the shore. we laid on the snow huddling together. just soaking wet, knowing that seconds were ticking awa >> de called 911. was able to give the

it's the aweekend. >> the fourth week of the government shutdown ends, there's no deal in sight to reopenhe government. >> talks between the government and the white house are intensifying now. scott, we know the speaker was supposed to lead a congressional delegation overseas. we understand that's been canceled. >> reporter: aaron, the heat off of the political heat could melt e snow off of the capitol dome. president trump has scrubbed pelosi's trip overseas with top democrats. the president says, you should be iwashington, negotiating with me. this comes after speaker pe president, suggesting he reschedule the state of the union dress. in both cases, they are citing the furloughs and the shutdowns.
