sthe weather therting to take a turn today, and we could be ending the weekendith some of the coldest temperatures we've seen in almost a year. ricketts, say it ain't so, girl. say it ain'the so. >> we go. hi. yeah, almost in a year. it is going to be bitterry co l. we're ott onnot only tracking td air, but we're also tracking wintry weather. as you know, and as you've been hearing about, this winte c weatheld really impact a good portion of our area. now, we do have winter weaer alert day out there. winter weather advisory in purple rig now. those are areas that are going to have a smaller impact compared to areas in pink. however, the forecast has changed a little bit from last night. 's going to be something we're talking about. the biggest icing concern is going to be north and west of d.c., well north and west of d.c. if you're areas to the south and east, it'll mainly be a cold rain for us.

i'll throw tnot out current temperatures, something is'll have to keep a keen eye on today because thi really going to dictate exactly what falls to the surface. again, temperatus right now, 39 here in d.c. well above that freezing mark. you can see areas to the south and east, fredericksburg, 36. annapolis, 38. we are looking at temperatures warming,ou areas s and east. north and west, we could have problems. nothing happening right now. widen out this view. here it comes. now,eou have some time in morning to get some things done. i don't think this is gng to arrive until the middle part of the day. a big area of low pressure is going to swing up to the north and east, and that's what's going to bring some of this heavy precipitation into our area. so we're going to break it down, zone by zone, county by county, where you live, to get you an idea after what you can expect for the rest of the day today and, more t importantlight and into tomorrow morning. that's coming up in about 15 nutes, meghan. >> lauryn, thank you very much. happening today, many will take to the streets in d.c. for

thelosive report says the night. president personally instructed his ng-time lawyer michael cohen to lie to congress to hide the president's involvement in a real estate deal for a moscow trump tower. nbc news has noteried the reports, and neither has any other major outlet of news. the special counsel's office issued a statement saying, quote, buzzfeed's description of specific statements to the special counsel's o evidence regarding cohen's congressional testimony are not accurate. according to nbc news, the special counsel is essentialto saying the is false. according to the "new york times," a source close to cohen says the pnt never instructed him to lie to congress. now, buzzfeed stands by its reporting but is working to determine what exactly special unsel mueller's office is disputing. now, president trump preparing a major aouncement

attack, rather, on a 69-year-old dog walker in broad daylight. and a warning, you might find some of the video disturbing. it happened thursday on euclid street in northwest d.c. police need your help to track these people down in connection to the attack. two men beat the victim in alleged attempted carjacking. they used a piece of pipe as a weapon. the victim's daughter says the car wouldn't start, so the suspects got away with only the woman's purse. the victim's daughter says she's in shock that someone would do this to her mother. >> these people, i guess, sick. because how you can beat a peon that cannot defend themselves. >> horrible. the woman, or the victim, is still in the hospital with severe head trauma. her family says theyno don't if she'll ever return to her job as a dog walker. developing this morning,le t 20 people are dead after a

gasoline pipeline central mexico. this happened yesterday evening in a small town about 60 miles north of mexico city. officials say dozens of people were serious lly burned after flames shot up high into the air. locals began scrambling to collect the spilling gasoline in buckets. the leak was caused by fuel thieves who illegally tapped the pipeline. we'll pos the latest on our nbc new details in the massive fire that destroyed an apartment complex for seniors in the district. remember that? investigators ruled out ele electrical problems. the mayor of public safety expects people were smoking near the roof of e arthur capper senior apartments. there is evidence someone tried to put the fire out with a garden hose. the report is also highly critical of.c.'s fire chief

jackiebenson, news 4. before today's women's march, yesterday, many gathered for the annual march for life. activists came together to protest adoption. the l march fore started along the national mallnd ended on capitol hill. this year, marchers told news 4 they see a window of opportunity for their cause. a conservative supreme court and administration. >> these people, they share our values. i think iteally balances out the playing field. >> vice president mike pence made a surprise appearance at yesterday's march. in a pre-taped video, president trump promised protesters he will veto any bill that, quote, weakens the protection of human life. this morning, three children killed in a crash on indiana head highway will be laid to rest. our sister station telemundo was there last night for the wake. the service will be held later thisning at 10:00 at

ational memorial park in falls church. three vehicles crashed on the road in oxon hill last month, killing the childre and injuring two adults. according to the maryland state highway administration, more than 60 peopled have dn crashes on indiana head highway in just the past 11 years. and the deadly suicide bombing in syria this week killed a sailor from our area. chief petty officer shannon kent was based at ft. meade in maryland. navy officials say s worked as a cryptologic technician. she enlisted in the n 2003. kent was one of four americans killed wednesday in the deadliest assault on u.s. troops in syria since u.s. forces began fighting there in 2015. isis has claimed responsibility. last month,d president trump s isis had been defeated in syria and ordered a withdrawal of all 2,000 u.s. troops there. now, it sounds like the

for a few northwest suburbs that could have icing and some light snow accumulation. nothing going on out there right now. this is w tt to expecs weekend. mostly cold rain, we have the wintry mix north and west. we're talking about through the northern shenandoah valley, the i-81 corridor. north and west of that western maryland, pennsylvania. if you're going skiing this weekend, it is going to be icy later on tonight through the areas. now, it'll all change over to rain, and we could have light snow showerso end byomorrow morning. no more accumulation from that. one to twonch of rain is possible because we're going to get some heavy rain after sunset to gght, and that'sng to continue into the overnight. could have minor flooding. then we could have another flash freeze tomorrow and into monday. we're going to become very wi y windy. wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour tomorrow night and into monday.ry that'll helpverything out. again, with this much rain we're going to get, we could have black ice around. so as you're traveling later on this t afternoough tonight

then the temperatures back toward the shenandoah valley, right around the freing mark. that's where it tricky. throughout the day,ain starts to arrive. we're expecting rain south and east, but we could have some blow, some sleet, some freezing rain pos north and west of d.c. later on throughout the afrernoon. thesehe areas from wind chester, martinsburg, haguerstown, cumberland, to we have to watch for some icing, for some minor snow accumulation. some of that line, if these temperatur drop a little bit more, loudoun county, montgomeru county, ifrop a little more, there could be just a little bit more of some freezing rain and some sleet in that area. m not expecting a lot. there could be some slick roads out there. again, i'm really thinking aot of this going to stay north and west. i do not believe there is going to be an icing threat for the d.c. area and south and east. raok at the temres now. this is 10:00 p.m. tonight. we're up to the low 40s. what's happening? we have a warm front lifting through the area, so the
