farther north frederick county, i saw you on twitter posting the photos seeing theg snow com down. still just above freezing in frederick. you're not going to see that stick. a little farther north, we are seeing thatretty much stick there, and then that line there more of a wintry thmix. is all going to change over to rain as we head through the overnight hours. saturday night plans, dinner time, temperatures in the upper 30s. believe it or not, temps are rising overnight. some flooding possible. it will be isolated in nature and that snow staying to the north. stick around, we're going to break down the areas under the winter advisory and i want to walk you through the wind advisory going into effect for tomorrow. we have breaking news, a new plan with the same demand from president trump today. the president addressing the nation about two hours ago proposing an end to the government shut down. speaking from the white house, mr.rump says that he still wants funding for his more than 5 1 billion dollars southern border wall, but he proposed

giving daca recipients and people wh temporary protected status an additional three years of protection but the president says he's only willing to do this in exchange for border wall funding. >> whatever we do, i can promise you is, i will never forget that my first duty and uimate loyalty is to you, the american people. >> democrat leadership says today's announcement is basically dead on arrival. the president did notention anything about the 800,000 federal workers affected by this shut down who are feeling the financial strain as it stretches into its fif week. now we go to a viral story that is getting a lot of attention in d.c. and across the country. there's a new video that shows so teenage boys mocking a nativee american man outside lincoln memorial after a rally in washington. many of them wearing maga hats.

and activists are fighting for, and h also you'rr more about a divide that is being during this year's rally. all right. we switch gears nowli in fair fax county need help finding the driver who hit a 93-year-old man and kept going. the victim struck not far from his home. news 4's s darncer joins us live from the crash scene with details on how thisll unfolded. >> rouorter: well, erika, as know, this is just an absolutely tragic story. we are here along arlington boulevard where this happened last night. i can tell u that the victim lived just steps away from where he was struck and killed. a short time ago, i spoke to a neighbor who described him as a really nice, sweet man who was always friendly and no one can understand how this could have happened. choppereo shows the scene, the hit-and-run happened here ob arlingtolevard in falls church around six friday evening. the victim, a 93-year-old man.

he was crossing near summerfield road when he was struck. police describe the striking vehicle as a dark colored mid to full sized pickup truck with an open bed. fair fax county police entified the man who was killed. he was paracles, he lived close to the crash scene. police say there was no crreswalk in the area we was hit. they are still searching for witnesses and trying to figure out who was behind the wheel and why the driver didn't stop. fair fax county police are offering a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of this hit-and-r driver. back to you, erika. >> darcy spencer, thank you. a massive pipeline explosion in mexico has left at least 66 people dead, 76 others injured. a fire ball shot into the air last night about two hours north of mexico city. mexican authorities say thieves caused the rupture. many of the victims caught fire whileil trying to buckets and drums with fuel.

calling it a deeply offensi message that in no way aligns valuesur school core >> it shouldn't surprise us that there is such a discernible lack of knowledge about the it's a matter of research, a matter of time and motivation. >> the school's principal says the students have taken down the photo but that post not an isolated incident. just this week in indiana, this picture, taken at zionsville, community high school shows members of a soccer team appearing to use a nisalute. the school district says it takes tse matters very seriously and high school leaders are investigating. last pspring, thisrom photo from a wisconsin high school showed dozens of male students making a similar gesture. that district called the photo extremely inappropriate but later said no punishment was given to any of the students saying they are protected by free speech. tonight, no word yet on what, if any, consequences the students this photo will face. morgan chesky, nbc news. >> the school superintendent says images like those cause great pain and sadness.

the crash. you see them there. they a still recovering from some very serious injuries. a go fund me page for the family has helped raise more than $55,000.we >>re hearing some very heartwarming stories of generosity as people do what they can to help furloughed federal workers. some local families got some free groceries, each of these bags of food donated. the national cathedral partneoung withlocal churches in this food drive. they gave out 400 basket of groceries to furloughed workers and their families. people were able to pick them up today at the mount mariah baptist church in northeast d.c. and rloughed work skpeers and tr families in the district can get free lunch at ten parksce and r ers across the city. families don't have to show identification. this epidemic just show up from noon to one and they handed out about 75 meals today at the hill crest rec center in southeast.

all right. somara is here t talk about this winter weather advisory. not everybody sees winter weather and that all depends on where you live. we're talking frigid mperatures, arctic blast and heavy rain. >> and then a warm up before all that. can you believe it? >> pothole city. >> it is going to be a wild ride as we head through the next 24 hours, just to say. but as erika was mentioning there, we do have a winte weather advisory now for certain parts of the area until 6:00 a.m. so not everyone. and this morning, there was a winter storm warning, but as we saw that forecast really change, we started realizing, okay, it heoks like that winter chance is going to stay fa north. they got rid of that farther south. we're in the clear of the d.c. metro area as far as winter weather goes. we are seeing a little bit ofar activityer north. areas in purple, a winter weather advisory. we've got a winy advis going into effect tomorrow at

11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow evening. that's for the entire area. okay. as far as the winds go, we're looking at damaging winds. we're talking win gusts up to 50 miles per hour. it's also going to thrust that windchill down below 0 tomorrow night and then with the winter weather adviso, we're looking at snow, sleet, ice a little bit farther north and west. so here's the radar showing that. exactly what i was talking about. right now in washington, d.c., things are pretty quiet there. some lighter showers startingo make their way in. as we head throughout overnight hours, it's going to pick skpupd that's going to be the trend. all of this is going to turn over it rn here soon. still seeing snowflakes come eewn in frederick county, maryland, and youhe wintry mix along the line south of downtown, now, the forecast for tonight. temperatures are actually on the rise, believe it or not. a surge of warmir is going to push into our area, taking us to the upper 40s, near 50 degrees by the time this is all said and done tomorrow morning. eae rain that moves through
