1-year-old baby died. the parents are still recovering from criticalin ries. >> i have five broken ribs that don't all me tocry, when i cry i cry with pain not oomy y heart, not only my heart hurts when i cry but also my body physically. >> the family had been to church and an all you can eat restaurant never kwing it would be their last meal together. they said the tpring from friends, family and even strangers is helping them get through. the state's attorney announced the driver thomas hawks has been indicted on three counts of vehicularla mahter. police say his blood alcohol content was .17, that's more than twice the legal limit in maryland. >> they were so loving, so adorable, all three of them. it's a pain that, unfortunately, you know, we're going to have to live with for the rest of our

erika gonzalez at the live desk with new tsdevelopm >> you and wendy touched on this at the top of the broadcast, but we learned that senate majority leader mitch mcconnell andr minority leauck schumer are meeting to try to hamr out a deal to temporarily reopen the government for three weeks. this comes after a day of debate and, two votes in the sena those votes would have reopened the government but they needed 60 votes to pass, and neither had support. one would have reopened the government in exchange for funding the border wall, but it failed 50 to 47vo s. the other vote by the democrats would have reopened the w governmele negotiations continued, that also faileda o 52-44 vote. the decision for mcconnell and schumer to meet came after a bipartisan group of about 20 senators took to the floor demanding action. we'll keep an eye on the movement and let you know what

goods. >> reporter: there are my ways you can help. the montgomery county counc health and human services committee heard what these nonprofit organizations are doing. >> there are incredible providers on the front line providing services for the many families impacted by this crisis directly and indirectly. >> the group women who care ministriesdistributes food. >> the average person can come to our fility to help pack the food and they can also give and cially on our website, they can also pray. >> reporter: the greater washington community foundation pools donations to help manyhe organizations. >> we have a steering committee that is looking at how to help both federal workers, contractors, as well as the small businesses pinched in this time o need. >> reporter: the organization called every mind operates a line and suggests if if you have a family member, friend or eighbor who's a federal worker,
