county police officer. megan mcgrath is live there now. what can you tell us? >> reporter: well wcan tell you that the inbound lanes, the northbound lanes of indianhead highway n open. but the southbound lanes still closed because of in investigation. you can see the prince george's county police cruiser there in the -- in the center of a of this activity. on the otheride you can see visible damage to that cruiser off to the left there is an suv that has gone off the roadway nd is in thatray area alongside the road here. what we're told at this points that in began with a death investigation on indianhead highway, not at this location down.little further a little south from here. that call coming in around midnight. prince georgeic county offs were shutting down 210 in both directions as a part of that death investigation. as they were doing that -- as ck that road b was in place, a

vehicle that was traveling southbound on indianhead highway, it struck the police cruiser that was blocking the road and then that vehicle went off the roadway there. now we're told that thce police of in that cruiser was taken to the hospital and is in stable cond'tion. we d have a whole lot of other information, though, at this point. certainly i've been asking this initial death t investigatit began all of this police activity in the area. not a lot of information. they're trying to get me some additional details here. but all we know is that there was some kind of death just a short distance down the road. they were investigating that. and that's when this accident that you see behind me back to you. >> all right. meagan mcgrath live i akake. k thank you. we reached another friday which should be a payday for 800,000 federal workers but day of the government shutdown brings little promise of a compromise. >> two senate bills that would have ended the shutdown failed yesterday.
