>> good morning again. well, you know, it looks like 's been looking for the past few weeks down here on the national mall, and i would say that i shutdown pretty unscathed, wouldn't you. however, there's a different sense of things here today as the 35-day shutdo finally ended. the national mall, as you said, we're looking at the monument, the washington monument. it actually won't be open until spring because it's utdown for repairs but national park service properties are going to start to reopen now. we'll start to see that. yesterday we were down at fletcher's cove, and we saw a lot of the work that theic park se has to do because of debris and stuff like that that's washed up out of the river. that's what it will be about for the park service the nt few weeks prioritizing how they reopen based on staff and the need for what needs to be done. the smithsonian museum, national zoo, ty will actually open on tuesday, but, again, you're park serviceo see vehicles and personnel out in these parks starting to do some catchup, work that they have not

killed in broad daylight on hayes street off minnesota avenue in northeast. officers say gunshots started to ring out around 3:30 in the afternoon. police have not yet released the victim's name nor the circumstances surrounding this murder. the hom iide rate in d.c.s more than double what it was this time last year. >> happening now, firefighters remain on scene of a massive warehouse fire in cheverley. take a look at this video here. you can see the plume of smoke coming from the roof there. fires continues to burn and smoulder. flames broke out around 6:30 last night at a recyc facility. the fire was so intense that firefighters had to evacuate the building for their own safety. >> being a recycling fility, a ret of bulk and build materials throughout struc along with mechanical equipment. the fire quickly sprea resulting in basically an almost 100% collapse of the roof

we've noticed it's been a little bumpy around here so we've noticed it's taking care of the enormous potholes around our are >> noticed the craters on the memorial bridge and then they were fixed. he's one got them on this to get it nice and smooth. >> well, this is what we've been dealing with here on the memorial bridge. up cabs everywhere because of bad potholes and craters that have developed, but now patches have started to be made here on the road surface. you can see t where all work has taken place there. progress on the bridge.

and cool back down and we've got roller coaster temperatures. today is wmer than yesterday. yesterday we made it only to 42 degrees. today nearing 50 and tomorrow in the upper 30s and then we keep th roller coaster of temperatures and we add some snow to the mix as well. let's go and take a look outside because it's not that bad out there right now. temperatures above the freezing mark. however, that's in d.c. eltside theay we still have some temperatures that are below thareezing mark and possibly icy conditions. i had snowts e my apartment when i left this morning, so, again, a lot that have is going to melt today and refreeze tomorr morning and we had some of that melt yesterday, and that's what's refreezing on the roadways right now. >> it's warmer oda there yest compared to today. we talked about that. the next big change is on tuesday night. we'll get some rain and eventually that will change to snow. off by wednesday orning and windy through the day on wednesday, but just know that evening's commute could be dicy and so could the

wednesday morning commute and i believe there could be a few nidelays on wednesday m. taking a look at temperatures out there right now. can you see the spots below the freezing mark. those are the areas thatce we'l be ced with for the icy slick spots on sunday morning. mostly cloudy and dry the day today. there could be a fleury or two, and we saw that earlier. this is with the weak frontal syst moving through the area. in maryland, maybe a few flurries. won't amount to much but we're looking at more clouds as we head through the middle part of the d once the front gets through the area. tomorrow sullshine. behind the front the temperatures are a little cooler, upper 40s today and upper 30s for tomorrow andhen we focus on tuesday so we'll start at 7:00 a. your morning commute on tuesday i lking good. then as we continue through the day on tuesday rain starts to move inhe along i-81 corridor and just about lunchtime and then that r will continue to push towards the d.c. metro temperatures in the mid-40s on
